Also, if you are not a good writer and are successful please do share your story. In my opinion, correct me if I am wrong, the stress on effective writing is far less communicated than what it should be.

when i started out i was terrible with writing when i set up my niche websites. i just followed the common formula of AIDA
- A - attention (Awareness): attract the attention of the customer.
- I - interest: raise customer interest by focusing on and demonstrating advantages and benefits (instead of focusing on features, as in traditional advertising).
- D -desire: convince customers that they want and desire the product or service and that it will satisfy their needs.
- A - action: lead customers towards taking action and/or purchasing.
And those sites made me money and got better with writing

Absolutely. You don't have to be a good writer. As long as you are clear regarding your business objectives, you can OUTSOURCE the writing to the right people. It's a business. Focus on what you're good at. Delegate or outsource the rest.
