Hey everyone,

Just a quick question. I've heard about DMOZ and how it's hard to get accepted there - the other thing I've heard about is the Yahoo Directory which costs around 300$ per year or something like that. Now my question is - first of all, is there someone here that is using it, and second - are you satisfied (do you think it was worth the money in terms of the amount of traffic it gave you)?

Thanks,
Jack

Some years ago a link from a couple directories would be enough to get you well positioned in some search engines. This was specially true when the links came from Yahoo and Dmoz. Now, with so much competition it's probably not worth your time.

I have 2 sites listed there. Don't get any traffic and the ranking boost is negligible.

Perhaps you would be better off listed in a paid directory that costs much less, like Best of the Web. I have done it and it does give you a somewhat leg up in the rankings, as it tells the search engines that you are real enough and not a spammy site. BOTW also have some kind of discount offer on, so it may be even cheaper now.

According to their site it's $99.95 per year or a one time fee of $249.95.
