How Long Should I Make My Free Trial Period

I have been selling this information product / "online class" for $20 (a one time fee). I have decided to change it up to a free trial period then a monthly recurring fee for access and support. I am hoping that more people will jump in on the free trial.

I just changed it to a 7 day free trial then $14.95 / month. What do you ladies and gents think about the amount of free days and price point.

I am wondering if people will respond better to 14 free days or a month. Any input or advice will be greatly appreciated.

Test, test, test always seems to be the answer. Also from my research it seems that the longer the refund period the smaller percentage of refunds you receive. Again you probably want to test, but that seems to be the norm in the literature I've read on this subject.

As the above poster said you have to test. Anything that you want to try in your internet marketing business you have to test. Testing allows you to optimize your results and make what you are currently doing better. So you can test out the 7 day free trial and see how that works.

Then take a look at your results and then optimize by adding or taking away a variable that you have noticed from your testing that seems to be working or not working, but this information can only become available to you if you test.

    Peace

$1 Free trials which rebill after 30 days do quite well. These types of deals reduces initial reluctance dramatically. It also gives you lots of opportunities to get a hold of your subscribers to upsell them.

I would think that anything beyond 14 days is too long given the price point.

I would also be looking to stack some value into your trial offer. Something to make the trial look like a total no-brainer. PLR, eBooks or videos. If you've been coaching, how about some case-studies or interviews with students?

And like others have said, you won't know unless you test. You absolutely MUST test.

Lastly, if you try for something less than 7 days, you could find yourself on the wrong end of a return. IE: Someone requests a refund late Friday of a long weekend and it's not processed until the following Tuesday. Your 5 day free trial expires and your customer gets billed despite the refund request. Much bad news!

Great point. I think what ill start with is the $1 that wrighaway suggested then just offer the 14 day trial. This way many will not have enough time to get through the content before being billed and my new customer will at least have some skin in the game.

Good thoughts. I think i like this better than the free with 7 days. Ill change it over to that tomorrow and then test from there.

7,14,30 days are most common among trials. if your feeling wild you can even go to 60 days.

I must be missing something. You've been selling it for $20 but now you want to offer a 7 day trial and then $14.95 a month. How is it only worth $20 once but now it's worth $14.95 a month?

I don't charge more for the class up front because there is a lot of money that comes back to me on the back end when people actually execute the training I give. Because I am in MLM people who do as I teach profit for themselves and make me money as well.

I want to keep the initial cost at a level where people have enough skin in the game, so they actually take action on what I teach, while at the same time making a decent profit from those who are looking for an unrealistic miracle.

As far as the $14.95 per month. The level of support I have been giving to those who are following my lead is well worth the price I am charging. I think I am in a spot where it is very reasonable to start charging for the support I give to my people.

Could be totally wrong but you'r selling this currently for 20 bucks makes it look like it's not a huge package so - How long someone needs to TRY your product?

If it's a video course which is done in 4 hours I would not go over 3 days.

On the other hand if you give 30 days people tend to forget the purchase and will get re-billed without even looked at the package. Refunds are according.

Thanks for being a part of this warrior conversation. Please take a look at my replay to travlinguy to have a better understanding of what I am saying. The monthly expense is not something people pay for the information.

It is for the people who actually see the vision, put it into practice, and are willing to pay for the ongoing support.

I would charge $1 for the first week and then $14.95 a month recurring. I would do this with a continuity payment program such as ClickBank or Paypal so that once they are signed up for the $1, they don't have to re-sign up for the $14.95.

Many will let the money come out of their account by default and never cancel. I do think that you need to offer something on an ongoing basis rather than just access and support. Otherwise they may just cancel as they are not using the service.

If you're re-billing anything less than $37 or $47 I'd go for 7 days or less...

Anything over that I'd do at least 14 days... and if you were re-billing $97 I'd place it at 30 days. I had a successful risk free trial before so this isn't theory btw...
