Twitter Surprised Me!

So I started using Twitter a while back and got about 30 people following me.

I very quickly stopped using it because I just couldn't imagine how it could be used. So I gave it up pretty quickly.

I just started up again a few days ago on the same account. I'm pleasantly surprised with the results

My website has seen 50% more traffic than I was getting before thanks to links in my Twitter posts. I can't argue for spending such a tiny amount of time Tweeting!

Back to the fact that slow and steady works. You probably have targeted followers and actually tweet occasionally about more than picking your nose! LOL

I also am new to Twitter and post occasionally. However my list of people following me seems to grow each day. I'm glad that you are seeing more traffic. Sometimes it does seem pretty random.

Right! At first, I also could not see how twitter could help me get traffic. Eventually however, after observing how people are using it and reading about the ways it can be used, I began appreciating its power. It does take a little time and effort of course.

Tweetlater.com is a great little service that lets you schedule tweets throughout the day.

I sometimes schedule 3-4 similar tweets over a 24-hour period, just to cover my whole network there. I also like to tell people that it's a scheduled tweet - just seems right to do that.

I still post between the scheduled ones, just to keep my account as natural and conversational as possible.

I've actually gotten more traffic from my bio URL than my tweets, I think.

You have 35 followers at the time of posting
and in the last month you've tweeted just 4
    links.

If that's increased your traffic by 50% you
can't have had a great deal of traffic to start
    with.

I'd hate for other Warriors to be misled into
thinking that using Twitter can lead to 50%
    increases in traffic.

I guess it depends where you're starting from.

I usually get 10-30 hits after each tweet. With a list right now of about 7k, I'll tweet something 10-20 times to make sure as many see it as possible. So, I count on about 200-300 hits over a day or two on a particular topic just from twitter. And, it's free, but does require a little maintenence.

That's very nice to hear. If you've got 5k+ followers, then twitter is indeed a great source to get instant traffic, but maintain a relationship with your followers at the same time.

Well, if someone is getting 5 visitors and now getting 8, that IS more than a 50% increase in traffic.

    Reality check.

Nonetheless, Twitter can be used as a great supplementary traffic source, particularly if retweets of your links go crazy.

I've seen good traffic on the bio url, but tweets usually take 25/20 hits. There's a little tool that You can run on your PC to auto tweet, at this time I don't remember the link, when I find it I'll post it.

I do get some traffic when I twit, tweet, whatever it varies, sometimes I submit and get 20 or 30 hits and other times I only get a couple. No biggy, it only takes a second to do so it's good. My followers are gradually growing each time I tweet too so perhaps the traffic will also grow

I used it on a brand new blog when i joined in december last year and the traffic was truly amazing. If i hadnt seen the traffic i may not have stuck to it and got addicted to it so quickly.

5 months later i have over 50,000 followers and the sales is amazing it is like a second subscribers list with the advertising resources that you would normally have to pay for.

I have just had 250 hits on my blog in the last hour just from posting my blog link on twitter!!!

if you dont use it for your business you should....

here is a link that will help you get going:

become a twitter expert in 24hrs and break into the twitter niche

dont worry it is a freebie

    kind regards

Very similar experience here. Started my account and blog at the same time. Traffic was instant and continues to grow with my Twitter account.

At a little over 4000 followers the blog sees about 150 visits per day, 7 sign ups per day and a couple of sales per week with just 3 links tweeted everyday (amongst other tweets, Rt's etc)

I'm looking forward to seeing where 'I'm at' by xmas.

If your not on Twitter, GET ON IT!

      Kind Regards
      Gary
