Steal My Work Will You? Take That!

Floyd has asked me to remove/edit my comment due to the fact that the situation has been resolved. Out of respect for Floyd, I have chosen to do so.

Here's the thing. They're biting you in a huge way with no recognition. I would be on a mission to exercise any and all ways of messing up that site. That's poor form and if more article writers and webmasters took more time to aggressively defend their work, people like those idiots would think twice before stealing.

Aargh, I just looked over the site and found out they are based in Singapore, my adopted home!! Uncool. I think I'll fire off my own harsh email at them. Don't want my town to get a reputation for this sort of thing.

Seeing that the CEO was interviewed on the local radio, the last thing they would want is adverse publicity (of the wrong type). A polite professional correspondence should do wonders. By the way, the thot did cross my mind as I was writing this that they could have been lead awry, meaning they got the content thru someone else (PLR, whatever??)

In any case, you'll should find out from their response....

Why not just send them a polite notice informing them that they're breaching your copyright and please remove all relevant material?

Getting yourself worked-up and wasting your time trying to chase down every way to destroy their business can have a poisening effect on your mind, as well as distracting you from more productive activities.

Life's too short to jump off the deep end when things like this happen. They may have hired someone to do some work that used these in ignorance - there are a lot of newbies who think that if something's on EZA then it's public property.

At least give them a chance to do the right thing before commencing full-scale warfare on them.

much as I hate to agree with Andy, he's right. Unless you intend to become a 'web vigilante', you'll spend a lot of time and effort for little in the way of returns. Next time make your article harder to steal. Embed stuff in it that promotes you, whether or not someone steals it.

Going to have to say forget about it. You can just email them and ask nicely to stop you will more then likely get further then getting all steamed up and wasting your time on trying to take them down.

Sad truth is, people from somewhere area always going to steal your content. Big companies like microsoft have people ripping off their software left and right and after mission if not billions of protection etc they spent on their software are there not still people getting it for free? Yes

Its always going to be an issue work around it.

I met him for the first time in World Internet Summit in Singapore (2005). He introduce himself as the #1 SEO Expert in IN THE WORLD, and Dr. Mani was with me. Duh!

If you want, I can call him directly and tell him to remove the article.

Once again thevulnerability of intellectual property on the web is exposed - as is the general attitude that there is no point in trying to protect yourself (because it is inevitable) against thieves.

Maybe it's time a regulating body, like Advertising Standards, was introduced.

Instead of putting all that time and effort into a fruitless war against plagiarism. Invest the time into developing something new. You can't stop these people so don't waste your time trying.

It sucks, but what sucks more is realising you've wasted however much of your life fighting a fruitless battle when you could've been achieving something great.

I do not know how much it helps with the article directories but I publish most of my articles on my site first. After that I publish to Ezine and once that is published, to a bunch more article directories.

There is a really neat tool that I use to let me know when people copy my materials and they even help to reroute some traffic back to my site.

May want to check them out. It is not a fix-all solution but given that some of us have literally hundreds or thousands of articles out floating around, every little bit helps.

Why not turn it into something positive and contact the guy and let him know about the copyright breach and then simply ask him to include your resource box link at the bottom? That way you'll get a link (from the #1 SEO Expert in the world, no less)

Unlike most places that have stolen content, this one looks pretty professional and nicely done. It could be that your article got on there from someone who made the site or some minion who works there and doesn't know any better. Still no excuse but the stealing might not be intentional.

You KNOW it is a scam RIGHT AWAY because they say they "Guarantee top 5 on google". Top 5 WHAT!?!? Even if they mean top 5 pages, that is limited to 50 sites. EVEN if they COULD do that, they certainly couldn't, because if they got 51 people in internet marketing, at least 1 would be out in the cold. But how could they expect to get all 50 spots?

They are probably one of those idiots that tries to optimize for "no.1 seo services provider" They DID get the #1 spot! In fact, they got the ONLY spot! Try looking for SEO though! OOPS! They aren't in the top 5 pages! And how many here have typed: "no.1 seo services provider" into the search engines?

That is typical garbage. People don't want to be listed in search engines! They don't even want to come up in search engines! They want to be SEEN by people that are in the demographic that they are trying to hit! The best term for "no.1 seo services provider" is SEO! It is likely to hit their demographic PERFECTLY! "no.1 seo services provider" doesn't count, as it is likely nobody will ever type it.

And if they are so great, they DON'T have to plagerize!

I think the conservative approach is usually the wise one -- stay polite, no matter what. If your language becomes aggressive, you'll just end up getting in hot water. Follow all the correct channels, and keep your focus on your business, not trying to shut down theirs.

We get hundreds (thousands?) of people copying our content every year, but they don't put a dent in our success.
