Where do you sell a website?

I have seen people on here who do site flipping as their main source of income and they all seem to mention a few of the same sites where they list their blogs, websites, etc. I can't find any of those threads and don't remember the sites they use. I want to sell a site and wonder if anyone could help me out with where to do this? Thanks a million.

SitePoint Marketplace - Buy & sell established web sites, startup and turnkey websites and more

That would be the best choice for everything above $500, list in the established section If you have startup sites to be sold, then head to digitalpoint. But be careful wherever you are! .

You will find most site flippers sell on Sitepoint and many also sell on Ebay. Personally, I sell 95% of my sites on Ebay and have always had more success on Ebay than on Sitepoint. Other flippers have more success with Sitepoint than Ebay so I guess you need to see what works better for you.

There are some other sites like Digitalpoint although I don't really recommend selling there.

There's not much money to be made in selling startup sites so it'll be better to build some traffic and income before trying to flip the same. With that said, sitepoint marketplace is a nice place as a starting point.

You can also try selling it on Ebay marketplace but make sure you conduct a background check of the interested party that you're dealing with.

If you want to sell startup cookie cutter sites, then ebay is the place to sell them. If you already have an established site with some traffic coming to it, then Sitepoint is the place.

Traffic (targeted traffic) is considered to be valued at $0.10 each unique visitor, while a prospect on an email list is considered to be valued at $1.00.

based on these figures you can determine the price to sell your site for, if it is already established in some way.

I've seen people say you can sell a site for the amount it makes in 1-3 years, going by the previous year. Comments?

Thank you for the comments. I think sitepoint is the site I was thinking of that I always saw mentioned.

You can often sell a site for 6 to 10 times its monthly income, so if your site is making $200 a month you may get $2000 for it.

I didn't mean run it for 3 years, but the amount of money it made in a year times 3.

Just to add more info, you can also sell startup website but it'll be dependent to the quality of the content and design. If you sell unique (no duplicate found in google) content and killer design, you can expect to get $100-200. As mentioned before, the more visitors / money you make from the website, the higher it'll be sold.

Here's the digitalpoint link for selling/buying website:

    Try this:
login to eBay, and search for websites that are for sale, but check the option for completed listings. SOrt by price. Look for sites that:
    1) have sold for a reasonable amount of money (over $150)
    2) have a lot of bids

Now look at the sites that sold, and thier domains. Make similar sites and put them on eBay for sale. Repeat

Depending on the quality of your site you can also sell on bizbuysell.com and buysellwebsite.com

Although, I have not personally sold any websites, but I have joint ventured with several site flippers where I create the content and they create the site and use their expertise in selling them. My JV partners mostly use sitepoint marketplace and now that we have a section for selling sites in WF, I am sure soon it's going to be a hot favorite for siteflippers.

    Thanks

You can sell your sites for free in these forums but the quality and prices are often very low and there are lots of scammers around, especially with DigitalPoint.
