problem with shipping cost: what if custy buys products from different drop shippers at once??

I want to stock my site with products of a particular niche from multiple drop-ship sources. But as the title says, what happens when they chooses products that come from different drop-shippers? Is there a way to avoid having them pay double shipping costs?

It all depends how you set up your shipping options. In my stores I normally either do a flat $6 shipping or maybe a stepped (no more then $10) and make sure my prices are set accordingly. If you have enough margin from your drop shipper this shouldn't be an issue. In most cases you just make a little less money, in some cases you get closer to break even and in the worst case (if you didn't plan right) you lose a little money. Over all you should make money on your over all sales and have gained a subscriber to your email list.

You are not saying what shopping cart you are using, whether it supports multiple "warehouses" and if you are charging "real time" shipping for these items. This is a basic answer but more information you give the better it can be answered.

I'm not that far advanced in my knowledge yet. I didn't even know there were different types of shopping carts for ecommerce stores.

    Conchairtoe,

Here's better place for questions regarding drop-shipping.

If the items are coming from different places then two lots of shipping will need to be charged. That is unless you want to bear the cost of one shipping.
