Video Course or eBook: which one you like the most?

Hey guys,
just a quick question. I'm working on my first English infoproduct ( I have many in Italian already ) and I'm planning to sell it as a WSO. However, I'm not completely sure what do you prefer: a video course or an ebook? The ebook will be about increasing the deliverability rates of your emails ( and other top secret things... ).

Writing an ebook takes more time ( but I can have someone edit everything for mistakes ), while video courses have more impact ( but, with my Italian accent, I'm not sure I can make everything easy to understand ). And, since I'm talking about a complex topic, I don't think hiring a speaker is the right solution.

People like to consume their content in different ways.

Personally I prefer learning from videos - as it is good watching someone exactly step by step how they do something.

You could do both as lots of people transcribe their videos into ebooks.

If you did both - you could have them together in one product.
Another idea is make both and do either the video course or ebook for the wso,
then sell the other format of the product on a different web page to another list.

For the videos, one option is you could create a script of exactly what you want said in the videos and pass that on to someone else to read it out loud into an audio that you place into the videos.

    Hope that helps you

Being blind in 1 eye I prefer to read instead of watching videos that go at their own speed.

One aspect of making videos with sound as the only option for a product that tends to be ignored is that not everyone has perfect hearing. I'm in this category and I sometimes struggle to make out what is being said, particularly if the speaker has a particularly strong accent or there is music or other noises in the background.

My preference, therefore, is for a written product or one that has video with a transcript.

I like reading eBooks, but if you should do what makes with you, or excites you, or makes you feel alive.

Do you enjoy writing or speaking on video more? Ask for feedback, but honor your talents to see the best results, as people who vibe with your delivery will find you.

    All the best!

I always find I retain more information after watching a video compared with reading an ebook, but just my personal choice.

Looking at the responses, offering BOTH will defintely increase your chances to sell more.

    Always overdeliver.

For me it's a ebook that has plenty of screenshots. I don't want to read everything because I do want to see what your doing, but I've watched videos with the presenter having a heavy accent before and I usually stop watching.

I agree with the guy above offer both. Or a video and a transcript.

I prefer videos. Further to Shaneman's comment, you could write the script and have someone from fiverr or elance be your video voice over.

      Hi FlamingWolf!

A couple of things to consider:

      1. Adding video to a product generally elevates its perceived value.
      2. As several people have mentioned, the kind of content people prefer varies.

You could create two packages: One that's the eBook, and another (priced higher) that includes the video. You could even offer two types of courses: An e-mail course (the eBook content distributed in chunks) versus video training.

The options really are about your goals and your intended audience.

One thing I do think is key no matter how you package it and present it: If you're going to market to an English-speaking crowd, your writing and speaking need to be clear and follow standard guidelines, otherwise, you may not be perceived as an expert (or even knowledgeable), and that's going to hurt sales and business.

      Best of luck to you!

    Both.

I like video as it shows me.

I like eBooks because it tells me.

Personally, I like to watch a video, and then read a chapter that covers what the video has just shown me.

And as mentioned, there are people who like different mediums, so including both will broaden your potential customer base.

Good luck with the WSO :-)

Ebook can save my eyes, easy to open in the morning. Watching video if I have time only and if I want to watch.
