$200 a month marketing and advertising budget. What should I spend it on?

I run a blog that primarily makes money through Adsense. I set myself a $200 budget for advertising and marketing per month, currently I spend that on Facebook ads to build our social following, but what should I do next? I was thinking of bing ads to drive traffic.

If you are not syndicating your content this is what I'd spend the budget on.
It take some time to set up but if you get an account with @ onlywire.com and one @ tribepro.com you can start having every piece of content syndicated.

This way when you post up a piece of content it gets reposted and linked to on hundreds and hundreds of sites and social media platforms from the people you are syndicated with. These back links will raise you up on Google and get more traffic to your site.

  • Bings ads is good too. There are many ppc company such as 7search, chitika and more. You may also go to affiliate marketing, list building. One of the key to internet success is to have your own list.

Are the FB ads working? If so, keep doing that. No need to get creative if what you are doing is already working. Hopefully, your current spend is being used to build likes for your Facebook page, where you are sharing links to your site.

I use this EXACT strategy on my local soccer site and traffic goes through the roof (500-1000 visitors some days) during the season, all from my Facebook page.

I would try to split the money up into different buckets and see what works. Here are some suggestions:

1- Do Facebook Marketing ...you can buy really good targeted ads on Facebook. You should think about what other type of sites your audience has liked and you can target that same audience.

      2. Do Affiliate Marketing ... We use a service called OSI Affiliate Software and we have affiliate users that send us a lot of traffic and we only pay them after they have sent us a sale.

      3. Do Email Marketing - We use Mailchimp and we have an autoresponder setup and we offer people awesome content and then when they sign up for us, we set them up to continue to get awesome content and this drives them back to the site.

      4. Go Google Adswords - I suggest before you do Google Adwords, you learn as much as possible about it because it can take your money quickly, however you should go after long-tail keywords

      5. We also use Buy Sell Ads to buy display ads...look around the site you can probably find some good buys.

I heard that you can't use Adwords to drive traffic to sites that primarily make income from Adsense. Is that not true?

You can use Google Adwords but you can not have Adsense on the landing page. But I suggest that you discuss this with a rep from Google as it can be tricky.

As far as spending your budget goes:

This is very difficult to say without seeing the site. You will get a bunch of answers and all of them can be right for certain sites and completely wrong for others.

If you are targeting your ads properly and providing QUALITY content on a WELL-BRANDED site and a WELL-BRANDED Facebook page, there is no reason you shouldn't succeed UNLESS...

You are in some weird or embarrassing niche that people are reluctant to share.

I've duplicated my Facebook success on over a dozen sites so far. When done right, it works.

Our niche is relationship and dating advice. So tell me this, at what point do you stop pay promoting the page? 10,000 fans, 20,000 fans?

As long as you are showing a positive ROI, I would just keep running the Facebook promotions.

$200 a month for paid advertising is really tough. But if you really want to get your hands dirty, you could try Facebook ads. It is one of the greatest traffic source where offer do converts for newcomers in paid ads.

However, you really need to put some good strategy on your sales funnel though if you really want to bank with $200. Build a list and monetize that list, that's the best way to spend your marketing dollars for huge return in near future.

It depends what you already have?

Assuming you already have an acceptable skillset, and the resources required to start a feasible business plan, I would suggest spending your budget 100% on advertising.

    Just my whiggidy whackidy $.02

With such a small budget, I would go to Fiverr and search in the advertisement section. You can
get some quality gigs on there for just $5 each.

What are you doing with the people once they like your page? Are you providing viral content 10-15 times per day? Are you driving traffic to your website and collecting optins then promoting info products & membership sites?

If not, I'd start there. Set up a funnel that makes you money when you promote it, then increase your ad spend as your income grows.

Yes we are driving traffic back with viral content. Although I'm still learning how to craft a viral headline, I have seen some results.

For my 2 bobs worth, I'd say keep on doing what works for you, - the FB ads, and also put some effort into learning email marketing like a pro.

There are some great products out there that can help with that, and between FB and consistent email marketing, plus syndication through one of the better networks like OnlyWire should get heaps of traffic for you.

The 'Onlywire' subscription is only a few bucks a month - $5 I think from memory - so depending on your niche, if that works for you, repeat the process using other syndication service providers.

        Hope this helps

If you've got a good sales funnel, I'd focus on outsourcing the content creation and the manual social media management. (I like things 'hands off')

For $200/mo you could get a part time employee to create viral images, put them into your scheduler, and share your content on related fb pages & groups too.

If you dont already have that good sales funnel in place, I'd invest in that first.

Facebook ads are great make sure that your are targeting a custom audience that are interested in your niche and also get your message in their newsfeeds rather than on the side (interuption marketing dosen't work as well). Hope that helps

Syndication is your best bet, but as someone also said is facebook working for you, if it is then why would you switch.

200 is not much to go around but I would do a few things if possible and bing would be the last one. PPC is just too outpriced and you would be better to spend that part and Buy Ads | BuySellAds Mods not an affiliate link. So maybe a syndication, keep facebook if its working, some buysellads banners and maybe a forum poster.

Haven't read the replies above... but I would first ask, how is your FB ads going? Are you getting results? Making more than you're spending...

If so, then yes, I'd look for other ways to drive traffic, if no, work on your FB campaigns until you're profitable.

FB is a great traffic source right now that grows businesses, if done correctly.

Also, try and look at adding more monetization strategies instead of just adsense... keep the adsense if you're making a profit... but also look into other ways to bring in income; ebooks, softwares, programs, etc.

I would agree with Jouvan, build a funnel first.
I would also consider spending some of the $200 on solo's each month. Find which ones work by tracking the Click-thru's and scale when possible

    Good luck
