Monetizing a health site with 75K pageviews

Site Info:
The site currently gets about 30,000 visits a month @ 2.5 pageviews = 75,000 pageviews a month with about 85% of visitors coming from the united stated.

What i've tried:
-In the past I have used clickbank with some success but on this particular site I tried using one of the most popular weight loss clickbank product and had very little success.
-I have tried list building earlier in the blogs life with a few signups a week. I tried pop ups and this increased a bit but not by much.

Suggestions?
Now I'm looking for legitimate products or services to offer site wide and wanted your opinions on these options and others that i might be missing.

Adsense/buy sell ads: I've never used these methods on this site but I'm not so keen on puting up a ton of ads to get minimal payout. Besides im afraid putting a bunch of ads would take away from the sites authority (appearance of)

Affiliate programs: What do you think about site wide placement of a single product or an affiliate link to amazon or a health supplement affiliate like Iherb.com or health insurance affiliate or a continuing medical education affiliate ...... Are these too focused for my purposes? because of the split between health professionals and regular readers i assume are visiting my site im having a hard time finding a strategy to monetize on all visitors.

Do you think running a survey on the site asking people what they are looking for would be helpful? how do you guys get a real gauge on what products or services your visitors may be interested in.

What do you guys think i should be shooting to make with these stats?

I would really appreciate your help/input and will happily sign up to a program using your affiliate link if its a reasonable affiliate program. If you have any suggestions that you want to directly discuss please PM me

    Excellent idea.

You might check into some CPA or CPL programs. All you have to do is get people to sign up and you get paid. Check out this forum: http://www.warriorforum.com/ad-netwo...ionaire-makers

      Hi Brent,
how would you generally structure the surveys? Ask a few broad questions and then maybe show subsequently more specific surveys to hone it in?

      How about this:

Would you like to see more of?
      1) Health supplement information
      2) Health education information
      3) Weight loss treatments
      4) Memory enhancement
      5) Ant-aging treatments

      Thanks

Before even running your surveys, look closely at your page stats, which content pages are getting the most traffic and what specifically are those pages about? Now, line up an affiliate offer exactly with the demand behind people visiting those particular content pages. I have had great response by placing Clickbank or CJ or even Amazon specific affiliate offers into the content pages that rank highest and get the most traffic on my content sites. The trick is that there must be a high degree of alignment between the intent people have in coming to those content pages and the affiliate or opt-in offer they see on that page or it just won't work.

I think your survey is a good idea. Also don't forget about health specific programs like Sellhealth and others.

Thanks jbsmith i'm definitely going to place ads category wise like if a page is categorized as diabetes related i would put a diabetes related link. I just don't have a real good feel of what actually sells like supplements? health insurance? health and medical supplies? clickbank weight loss books.....

I really need to figure out what the visitors are looking for but wanted to see how others approach gauging their visitors interests.

Unfortunately google analytics doesnt give me any demographics on my visitors so i don't know gender or ages ie) selling anti-aging stuff vs weight loss stuff vs health educational stuff. This makes it hard for me to guess what people want.

sell your own product. you can buy a good PLR in the health niche and promote it. instead of looking for an affiliate program.

start building your list again, you should be getting a lot more sign ups with 30k visitors a month. put the opt in form on your side bar, top of your home page, and the use the pop up again.

Ive been seeing some cool surveys lately that you might want to think about doing. one was "How long would you survive the zombie apocalypse." it was a mixture of realy survey questions and fun type questions which produced a unique entertaining result when they are done.

Thanks both sound like great ideas! Would you happen to have any suggestions for places to look for reputable PLR health stuffs? I tried looking up PLR health products in the past but never found anything or anywhere i could get them that looked even remotely legitimate.
