Social BookMarking - Use A Paid Service or Software?

Hi
Presently I have a blog that I post around 4-5 good articles too per week and then to around a dozen or so Social BookMarking sites that I'm signed up to. This site is in the sports niche, but I am starting another blog in a different market very soon and will be posting to that blog also of around 5-6 articles per week and again to the SBM sites.

Now what I need to do is to automate the posting to the social sites and at the same time to more of them, but I'm wondering which service or software to use to automate this process? I know that there are many more services and other software available than I've mentioned below, but I would like to know your recommendations please and your reason for using it.

I've looked at a few options such as:
Onlywire.com paying annually, not sure how many sites they allow posts to?
Socialmarking.com (submits up to 240 sites & up to 24 different titles for each url for $60)
Bookmarking Demon, this seems awesome and to have lots of Bell's & Whistles about it, but is it any good?
Then there is the warrior's own "TheRichJerksNet" whom provides a service.

My aim is to post around 400 articles per year to 2 different blogs with them going to the SBM sites, so I guess it's the most cost effective method that will count.

Thanks in advance

Bookmarking Demon is a great program but it takes some skill/knowledge to use it effectively and it isn't particularly cheap. I find it extremely useful given what I do but it isn't the right fit for everyone. If you're just running a single blog, it probably isn't the right choice for you.

Big Mike has a bookmarking product that you might want to look at if you're on a tight budget. It doesn't have as many features but is considerably cheaper.

I suggest onlywire.com thats the service that I always use. They have a free version so you don't have to pay and its really easy... You just add a "Bookmark This" button on your site. Very easy very friendly.

There is a wordpress plugin floating around that integrates with only wire. Basically pinging onlywire when you have a new post. Its an excellent plugin I suggest you try and find that if your trying a wordpress site out.

It all depends on how much you think your time is worth.

I have Big Mikes Social Bot. I use it as a backup to outsourcing social bookmarketing services.

When, and only when, I have time on my hands do I use the software to do it myself.

And...it's mainly to keep up with my own skills and to perform tests. Like creating small samples of tags to determine where my most valuable traffic is going from.

Once a test has been proven to be successful...I outsource it on a much larger scale.

I think one thing to consider when talking about Social Bookmark is that when you use services like onlywire.com and other services your bookmark will contain only one bookmark hit per send.

The real benefit (in my humble opinion) of Social Bookmarking is having 50 or more bookmarks of the same article or page.

That is to say that for example Digg users have "Dugg" your page 50 or more times. That sends out a flag to move you up in the list of articles or submissions.

There are a lot of shady ways to do this, like creating 50 login and manually bookmark your page. But they are getting smart at this since they see that every bookmark is being done by the same IP address(i.e. the same person).

You have to create something viral to get people to use bookmark services to advance your site, that is the real power of viral marketing through social bookmarking.

This is what Authority Bookmarking does but ofcourse I would not do it on digg. It is not shady to create 5, 10, 15 accounts at social bookmarking sites as long as they are not created as junk accounts. If those accounts are logged into and managed like they should be then there is nothing wrong with it...

What many do not do when bookmarking is login their bookmark accounts and become apart of the community. Create your full profilel, make friend request, adn etc ....

Agreed! I think a major drawback is that if you are the create a complete marketing plan for long term success it is difficult to keep up such amounts of profiles and seem to be an active member of the community.

With email campaigns, link building, social media like Twitter and Facebook, content creation and keeping up with the Jones it is sometimes overwhelming for new members of our community.

        Thanks for the advice!

This is what happens when you do true bookmarking
Bridal Gowns and Wedding Gear Online Sales - Google Search

          Notice a few things

          1. The article was just added and approved today on AP
          2. The article is above EZA
          3. Notice the time "added 8 hours ago"

It was actually picked up within a few hours of being approved and being bookmarked.

Oh Norma great article by the way ..lol

Right! I used such services and saw no effect because all their single and weightless bookmarks brought no traffic at all.

Did you do any keyword research before you started posting bookmarks?

The key is to first invest some time in developing a keyword ranking strategy. Think of the process in terms of boosting your ranking in the search engines and getting your traffic from there.

I've done some isolated testing using SocialBot and gone from page 8 in Google to the top 4 spots on page 1 in 2-3 weeks.

These are not temporary results. After 4 months, I'm still there.

I'm having a hard time using Social Marker. You'll have to manually submit, although it's in a frame and the list of services are rounded up automatically. Still too much effort.

It will be better to use a service that automates all the submission stuff..Presently I haven't found one that satisfy my needs.

Those are good results. In quotes, the competition is just over 500 results. Have you had similar results with keywords with say 50K competing results? Just curious.

      Hey Tommy,
I have an article I added last night and it was in google in 15 minutes after posting it to AP and bookmarking it. One I am working right now has 128,000,000 results and listing #9 - with 300,000 competing results. I am not going to say the keyphrase used here though ..lol

I am trying to kick this thing up from #9 - it keeps going between #7 and #9 position ...lol

Thank you all for the input, now I'm more confused.

I read sooooo many different articles about this social bookmaking thing and it seems very contradictory to me in that one post mentions one way of bookmarking and another post mentions another way and I just don't seem to get my head around it.

So please excuse my ignorance here but it sounds to me that to do social bookmarking the right way and by right I don't mean just posting your article to the individual sites and hoping for the best. Although that method should at least provide some back-links to your post/site, but to become pro-active in these social sites. If this is then the case it does seem a very time consuming method of getting traffic? Then how do you find the time to socialize on these sites and get on with other things in your life, or to succeed you have to turn your life over to these SBM sites?

Take myself for instance. I work for myself and have to fit my Internet work around that and I'm also doing up the house plus I do like to have a social life of my own and get out in to the country for walks at least one day over the weekend and I also go with the other half to do some shopping.

So is it then a case of unless I lock myself away and spend all my time visiting these SBM sites and become a big part of the communities and start interacting with them I'll fail, as just submitting an interesting article to these sites using automated methods of posting and pinging to the many SBM sites is a near pointless exercise?

This is why you hire an expert in the field and someone that does not have a life, like myself ..lol Since Feb I have done over 435,000 bookmarks for customers. The example above just shows one example of the bookmarking service I provide, now even though the google search above is for an article at my own site by one of my authors.. This is one thing that makes me different from the rest.. I actually advertise my authors articles for them.

Social bookmarking though, if you view my video it gives you the proper steps. If you do not have the time to do the bookmarking yourself then that is when you outsource it to have it done.

True there are so many social bookmarking services and softwares but I can honestly say TheRichJerksNet bookmarking service is by far the best.

I am always curious of spending money online cos if care is not taking you will empty your pocket and gain nothing back but I have made some bucks using TheRichJerksNet 9 dollar social bookmarking service.

We have experts here and I mean experts on the warrior forum but no one beats TheRichJerksNet to the social bookmarking service.

Recommendation from a happy customer and fan.

Onlywire is the one I use and it is awesome.

There is a bit of setup involved, but once it is...autopilot!

Try it out, the best news is that it is free! Bookmark & Share - The Power of the Button | OnlyWire
