Youtube Vs Ezinearticles

by Frank Murphy 22 replies
I have been doing some tweaking and testing of my own recently, and came up with various results, a contrast between video and article marketing. Here are my results.
Video - 5 minutes to create, Instant approval, High Traffic (600 views overnight), High CTR, almost 100% in my case, Higher ranking in Google SERPS.
Article - 10 minutes to write, 3 days to approve, Ok traffic (50 views on approval), Low CTR (10%), Ranks lower than my videos in Google. Higher conversion rate than youtube.(2 sales)
It has become apparent in my case that video marketing is the way to go, however, the quality of articles marketing cant be denied, since it got me my 1st sales. I would like to know if other Warriors have had similiar results between article and video marketing?

I've had similar results. I've also noticed after a while my articles seem to drop down in the SE rankings, but my video's stay at a consistant ranking.

Chiayee, you can create a live link in the description of your video. It's gotta be the first thing in the description though, so add the URL - include the http:// and then include a keyword rich description ;o). Then have a call to action in the video, pointing to the link in the description.

well as "Stomper.net" says ... and Joel Comm is efficiently utilizing this tooo .. and so many other IM Guru's ... Videos are whats " IN " these days ....

Every now and then there comes something that really hooks up every internet person ... and videos at this time are doing just that ... people are watching more and more videos ... and its always better if you could see something it gives you better understanding of the subject as reading ....

Another example could be the viewership of television is way more then people reading newspaper ..... hope that makes some sense

      Hi Misako,

By the way - here's a great post in our forums The Warrior Forum - My Killer Article Process called "The A9 Process"

It's a strategy containing articles+videos to drive traffic to your website using basically a single article initially.

It is predicted that over 86% of the Internet users in the US will be eating up online video by 2011 which is up 62.8% from 2006 -or- a rise from 114 million viewers to 183 million.

If you were wondering about online video...it's here to stay and revolutionizing mainstream.

Virtually all the independent content owners (some members of this forum), major TV networks, web portals, film studio's social media sites..etc, are all hoping aboard this revolution. It is confirmed that the way in which content is created, distributed and monetized has definitely moved from sci-fi to mainstream.

Some of the big timers fear that the widespread availability of online video will wreak havoc on the mainstream industry of TV and Film. However, others view the potential to increase revenues via a a diverse selection of business models such as pay-to-own downloads, subscription services, online rentals, and ad supported streaming as big time winners.

Personally I use video to generate optins and giveaway products, then I market to them. This strategy may work better for you. I always get more hits to my videos, you can even use wordtracker and target really good phrases and stuff your video descriptions. Its a lot harder to get good keyword density with an article.

You have a video directory as a web site. Would you recommend posting your video to all if not most of the video directories to get your message across?

I would rather go with the lower CTR and higher conversions then high CTR with junk traffic. You have to test and track everything and go with whatever works with your offer. Everything works, you just have to test results for different campaigns to determine your best traffic source.

Not to be rude, Misako, but are you actually in your own videos? I ask because, if so, that would greatly skew the statistics for the rest of us. You could probably get away with a video about the feeding habits of Mexican flies. With my face, I could be talking about a way to make a million dollars in 15 minutes, and all people would think about is the feeding habits of Mexican flies.

I use both vids and articles. If the articles are weak, you might want to work on your copywriting skills. In the meantime, video obviously is working great for you. It should be easy enough for you to attract attention - the trick is in getting those followers to convert.

Thanks for the comparison though - it's always interesting to see how this works for others.

I gotta agree with the point made here...

It's not just that it's a video. A video is content. Is the content interesting, relevant, entertaining, useful or...is it lame, boring, and/or a complete waste of time for the viewer?

The point made by Sean also brings up another interesting concern. As more and more "videos" flood the content space vying for eyeballs, the novelty of watching a video quickly wears off. Quality content and some level of quality production will matter more and more...very soon.

And, no disrespect to Misako but just a heads up to beginners out there, I spend more than 5 minutes just thinking about a title and tags for a video to be uploaded. Let alone planning, recording, editing, rendering, and uploading...

But that's probably just me! ;-)

You should always spread the love for link juice and direct traffic.

There are many, many ways to monitize not only articles but articles and videos combined. You just need to go out an do a little experimenting.

Hi Ghoti, just to answer your question, I am not actually in the videos. My galfriend (and biz partner) made it for me. And honestly, its not the best video i have seen. 2ndly, as some of the warriors in this thread have said, its not all about looks. Getting great content is the key. Furthermore, i noticed that the funny videos get tons of views on youtube, and some of the people in the more popular videos arent exactly models or even ****stars. And I am also planning to promote my videos via ezinearticles. I will report back with the results soon

im just curious, are you using video marketing for the IM niche or others? I assume it works just as well for all niches but have not seriously ventured into the area yet. Its something i've been considering doing and think I might give it a try on youtube.

                Hi Misako,

I agree with your points...my testing has shown similar results.

HOWEVER, my testing has also shown that Veoh, Viddler, and Revver rank significantly higher and quicker than YouTube...using the same exact keywords, descriptions etc.

  • Hi Guys and Gals,

I use both Ezine Articles and YouTube videos and find both work really well for traffic AND getting on the first page of Google.

You see, about a year ago, Google announced their "Universal Search", which means they intend to have a mix of formats on their main search results. These could be text, pdf, images or... VIDEO!

So, by taking advantage of Google's love of Ezine Articles (which is still holding its own against competition from Squidoo, Hub Pages et al), PLUS their love of video, by using both, you get two shots at getting on page one.

On some occasions, I've managed to get in the coveted #1 slot on Google's main results with my YouTube video and for other phrases the Ezine Article is first, with the video or article lower down the same page.

Research shows 72% of searchers click on the organic (natural) results and only 28% on the paid-for AdWords. So it's worth making the effort, with both your videos and articles, to get on that first page.

What's more, if you manage to hit the #1 slot, you'll get about half of those 72% organic clicks (36%). And there's more to that than just saving a king's ransom on your advertising costs, for this reason.

You see - whatever we, as internet marketers, think of Google - the average Joe, searching for information really trusts Google and relies on its judgement. So, when they see Google has chosen to list you on the first page - particularly in the #1 slot - it's like getting a testimonial from God!

And your conversion rates will go through the roof, simply because you created that vital element you always need before you can make a single sale. Trust.

    Warmest regards,

    Paul

What most people don't get in regards to making videos is that you can take a power point presentation and turn it into a video. Personally, I think what it all boils down to is link structure. In other words, if you have a video that is ranking high in the serps, why not make an article pointing to the video? I know that it won't do much in terms of sales funnel but you will get the backlinks to keep it up there.

One of the bigger problems of video is that it is one of those things I look for when I am thinking about competing in a niche.

If there is a video on the first page, I can pretty much guarantee that I can make there as well. Dunno why this is the case but it is.

Videos work because seeing is believing. It's still good to have the written article to back it all up though and explain each detail more fully for those who care. In this day and age, every one is in a rush so it sees more likely they'd spend the few minutes watching a movie than reading through a 1000 word article.
