Question About Domain Name

I have a question about choosing a domain name for my new website, which is sports related.

So many of the domains I want are taken, but there are a few available if I abbreviate a word. I want to know what you experts think about using abbreviations in domain names. In this case, a slang abbreviation.

The word I am abbreviating is 'and'. I want to change it to 'n' in my domain.

For example:

www.workandplay.com becomes www.worknplay.com

I know there could be issues when this domain is spoken (I dream that one day it will be spread by word of mouth) but for now I don't think this is an issue.

What do you experienced IMers think about this?

Thanks in advance.

I would buy both, but what I mean is that the domains that I like containing the word 'and' are taken. This would mean me abbreviating it to 'n' for it to be available.

or get it abbreviated and should it get known in time you could get a shorter, more brandable one and do a redirect to it. For now get one that you like the most and start working on it.

I used 'n' for and in a domain I owned. I prefer it over and for some domains. It worked out fine for me.

It won`t be an issue as long as you do a good job making a nice website around that domain.

It should work ok, but I would prefer something brandable that doesn't require a visitor to remember to make the mental switch from the natural workandplay to worknplay. Especially considering that workandplay is a competitor.

...Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just set there.
