I recently came across this article and thought it was worth pointing to. It isn't the 'latest post' but has lots of great wisdom for young marketers. Take note.

3 Most Common Marketing Mistakes Young Entrepreneurs Make (and How to Fix Them)

A quick summary. The magic recipe to successful online marketing:

1) Get crystal clear on who your ideal customer is.

2) Regularly interact with live customers and build exactly what they want.

3) Communicate with them in a "one-on-one" way, and make them feel understood.
Do you agree with this? Why or why not?

Yes! Excellent share and I couldn't agree more with the 3 rules you listed.
Finding out exactly who your customer is - is crucial! You need to know how to tailor your product or service to their needs.

    Great thread - Thanks!

I think these are pretty good and I also think there should be some that help you work on yourself as an entrepreneur.

There is a big shift from being an employee to being someone that is in business for themselves.

One of my coaching clients said to me "There are a lot of people that sign the back of the paycheck and very few that sign the front."

I use that to help business owners understand their role and their responsibility in the business, so when we discuss strategies and tactics they have a better understanding of "the why".

I agree overall, but one thing they are forgetting is to OVER deliver! This keeps your customers coming back and builds more business relationships that can take you to other levels.

I agree with you here but if you set the bar too high to start with then have a slip in standards because you just can't keep the quality at that level forever then customers often become disappointed. Know what you are truly capable of before you offer the moon!

I definitely agree with these three tips on how to be successful with online marketing. There is no better way to succeed in online marketing than to target your customers and to make them feel your presence by highly interacting with them.

    Great post you have here!

I agree to all three. Defining who are your clear ideal customer must be first step. When you already knew who and what is your ideal customer then those 2 and 3 steps will eventually follows.

David, while your three points are very valid (admittedly I haven't read the article) I would be careful that they all might fall under the category of "knowing your customer and providing great customer service"

I would also add in sticking to ONE thing. Most new businesses/entrepreneurs try to do lots when they should be niching down to the point of accomplishing a single item.
