Forum profile links? How?

I am hoping to become active in a few forums that relate to my niche. I have found that most of them do no have a place to put my website's link. Others require a certain amount of posts.

What are the forums recommendations for overcoming this?

Do I make some posts and then put my link in the About Me section?

I need to find 2 or 3 of these forums to become active in. I intend to visit them about once or twice a week to build some community recognition, etc.
I just need to know how to get my link in there.

Thanks for taking time to consider this question

Well there are only a few tops anyways, If you would concentrate your efforts on one it would be more beneficial too you.

I have memberships to about ten IM sites but only stay here, it is probably the largest and the best.

Plus the others have most of the same membership so you just beating a dead horse and doing more work for nothing.

    Hi,

I don't know which niche you are in, but yes, I would register to forums who do permit adding a signature with a link after a decent amount of posts and invest in good advises to gain recognition. It definitely pays off!

Also, I would look for look for big membership sites in your niche that contain a decent amount of members and would also join them to gain recognition there also.

Usually large membership sites also have a forum, and even if not, you can contribute in other ways: comments/ guest posts... (depending on how good the reputation you build for yourself).

    Good luck

I usually don't register in forums that don't allow links in signatures. I never spam forums and in my own communities I've always allowed people to have their link, it's my way to give back to them for the effort invested in my forums.

So .. I'd register to the forums that allow links and make the effort to post the messages needed to be able to show my siggy. But again, don't spam, don't post crap content, make sure you are contributing to the community. The idea is not just to get a link, you can get people interested in you if you post good stuff. These can be your future clients or just targeted visitors for your site.

Find few forums you really love and be a regular there. I got more results from established accounts (over 500-1000 posts) than from new ones. As soon as you're seen as a serious member, you will get noticed and so will your links/sites.

It really pays to get involved in the communities where you post. It takes awhile to build that credibility, but when the members of the forum can really see that you care and want to stick around and not just interested in a backlink, they are more likely to warm up and respond favorably.

Moderators, too. You may not get any special privileges, but if you're a valued member of the community they may cut you some slack if you inadvertently cross the line. It could mean the difference between simply having a post deleted, a short temporary ban or a permanent ban.
