Ideas for Music Promotion?

Hi fellow Warriors!

I wanna promote my friends who just released their first single. They got it signed by DIY label so it's avaliabe at spotify, itunes etc. They also have a music video.

I wanna ask you guys because you can think outside the box. It's in the EDM genre, so the competition is tough. The track have got very good responses so far and we need it to the broader masses.

How would you go to market this?

    I would go to YouTube and find videos that are related to the music.

    Then I would contact the creator of the video and ask whether they
    would allow me to use a little clip from their video.

    Then I would use those little clips and create a compilation and add
    a credit slide at the back and add your music to the video.

    Then I would go back to the guys that allowed me to include their clip
    an show them the video.

    They will share it with their audience and ... bingo you have an instant
    viral video.

    Best known example for this is PEOPLE ARE AWESOME (Hadouken! - Mecha Love)

    72 million views is kind of impressive. They did this 3 years ago with the purpose to get their band on the map and it worked.

    The secret is to not just copy what they did but find videos that fit perfectly to the music that your friends make and then make this compilation a piece of art and people will share it and your friends will be famous.

    Could write yourself a review and include a youtube video of them and make sure you have all the social share buttons on your page and ask your readers to share. Submit your review to review sites (have to compile a list).

    Also by having a youtube account youtube is more than just a video upload site but its a social network so by researching for your target audience as well as other music makers you can start to build a network and really increases your chances of a hit going viral...
