im seeing a lot of people who are touting plr as "the place to be" and i dont quite get it because it is sooooooo easy to develop your own product.

why would anyone use plr and what success have you had with it??

if you agree with me, i would be interested to hear your opinion as well.

Not thinks they have the ability to create their own product. PLR gives them a place to start at least.

Plus, with many PLR products you also get the landing and squeeze pages and often times additional content.

I have an assistant in my office who gets upset when she sees how extensively I have rewritten some of her material. I have to patiently explain to her that her work is invaluable to me because it focuses my thinking and gives me a jumping off point. Without that push it would take me much longer.

So it is with PLR. You can scan a bunch of alternatives that will get your creative juices flowing. You may not wind up using much of the original (in fact, the conventional wisdom is that PLR should ALWAYS be extensively rewritten) but you will create more useable material a lot faster than you would have otherwise.

I agree, there's no need to re-invent the wheel, and often times, a PLR product can be a good reference when you're creating a product of a similar kind yourself, even if it's just to see how you do *not* want to do something.

My online niche business is built on plr. Obvious I've changed the sales pages and upgraded the plr ebooks with more information.

I have been into PLR for quite some time and have complied one of the largest PLR article packs on the web.

I always recommend people to edit them and custom fit their links and content into the articles, but they can be a great starting point for a lot of people looking to get into IM or selling online.

From reading IM forums and facebook groups I've found quite often the biggest roadblock with product creation is in the research,, and the organization of the research. High quality PLR content is a lifesaver because all this tedious research has been done for you. Hey presto... here is a product.

What you can do is customize and personalize this content, and make it more you own, by adding your own experiences and knowledge. That way you're separating yourself from other PLR license holders by giving more value to your customers.

Back on topic, I'm on both sides of the fence and made a lot of money from selling products I purchased the PLR licensing from and selling PLR licensing to my own products.

It's a lucrative income stream for me, some even scale up and make it their main business model.

I agree with GarryMSayer. PLR is a great research tool and jump starter.

Often times I find different techniques on a subject in different PLR articles and I can use that information to create a new report.

Of course the challenge is finding PLR that you think is reasonably done well and contains the subject matter you are looking for.

There are a lot of great PLR sites around with well written content.

PLR works just fine for people who are new to the business, and just want to plug something into a traffic source that requires little work.

People have many issues with creating their products because they have no idea what they are actually talking about.

That is what has them lead to PLR. It is a newbie/lazy mans tool for quick success.

Creating products is not that hard, but if it was easy to create successful ones everyone would do it. The sad part is that most people are using JUNK PLR instead of spending a couple hundred or a couple thousand to get a high converting proven cash machine.

PLR is good for newbies using cold traffic or that love to give stuff away as value to their lists.

there are a lot of awseome plr products out there. You can provide value to your list without having to actually create the product.

Your suppose to go through the product yourself as if you just purchased it and if you like it and it provides the value it promises then by all means why not? Its a great way to make money either directly to your bank account if you are a merchant or just use paypal then you have access to it right away to do other things...

The key with PLR is not to just sell it as you get it. You have to re-write it in your own words. Then you have a product that can bring you $$$
