I am currently currently making a living as a drop shipper. I am considering switching to content marketing by designing a few websites and writing tons of original content.

Can anyone recommend any goog reads for my research?

So you want to drop the shipping and be content with marketing, right?

And in case you did not get the joke:

I thing you should stick with drop shipping. You say you make a living with it. Can't see what's wrong with it. There are a lot of people that would love to make a living as drop shippers. You could teach them how to do it right.

How much time of your day does your dropshop business take? Because I suspect that it won't take up your entire workday... I would keep doing it and start to experiment in the time you have left. I guess you already know about he technology to make everything? Otherwise read into that.

Then it's important to pick a topic that interests you, so you can keep up writing about it (of course there should also be a lot to write about on this topic). You mention to start a couple of websites... I think it is better to create only 1 and focus on that. Maybe with some smaller side projects, but writing a lot of content does take some time.

Thank you for your responses everyone. I definitely intend to pursue content marketing part time for an extended period of time initially. Also, I do intend to make my first website on the subject of ecomerce and dropshiping.

I am hoping to write 500 to 700 word articles initially. I was thinking that I probably need about 100 articles to get started and look to build up to about 1000. Does this sound like a reasonable plan?

Don't get bogged down with details such as the number of words in an article and the number of articles on a website.

For articles write the number of words that adequately covers the topic you are writing about. If this is 300 then that's fine. If it's 1500 then that's also fine.

For the number of articles just have a half a dozen or so ready and get them published. Then you can add to the content as you have time and according to the needs of the site.

The sooner you get up and running the sooner the site and its content will get indexed and begin to rank.

Do you intend to write articles yourself? Well, it requires a significant effort if those articles will be any good.

Quality is more important than quantity.

10 good articles and you have a very good website.

P.S. You have received very relevant advice in this thread.

I would like to get into eCommerce and drop shipping. Would you teach me?

  • First off, I would not drop anything that's making you money today.

Secondly, Google page rank today is all about quality backlinks and visitor engagement. Forget everything you ever heard about keyword stuffing your crevices. Just create a blog on your niche and pages with an engaging title (one that engenders intrigue - e.g. "Why I Stopped Using [product] and Switched to [product]") and real, from the heart, straight up good, useful content. Write like you were writing it to your best friend.

It's easier today than ever before because you can forget all about the tricks and the games. Just tell people about the product you're selling, why you like it, how you use it, how it differs from the rest.
