Hi All...
I'm keen to put together a list of the Top 5 (or more!) Traffic Traffic Generating Software Applications... so I thought I'd ask all of you if you'd like to help me.

I've heard of these:
Twitter Hummingbird
Automatic Article Submitter
FirePow

Any you'd like to add to the list (and explain why too)?

:-) Beaumont

As I creator of those kinds of tools I might have a different view. I never look at them as traffic generating tools, just tools to make you do faster what you already do. So, somebodies top 5 list is not going to be very good for somebody else.

What is very unexploited at the moment is getting traffic from Youtube. There are not much tools on the market for that and that's going to change quickly. Tools to convert articles to videos are just emerging.

The videos rank well on Google, and people click on those results very often. Your competitors are not doing videos yet. For example, there are hundreds of millions of Google results for "loans" and only thousands on Youtube. So, now is the right time to do your domination. My top 1 tool of the moment would definitely be a tool to quickly convert articles to videos.

Firepow - it's a good tool. It's not one of those "a guru does a launch and forgets about it" tools. It's a package of several tools to save you time and money, and it is being improved constantly.

Thanks Milan - any other suggestions are always welcome.

And congrats on your Automatic Article Submitter - seems to be getting some serious traffic for many people!!

The best ways to generate traffic don't require tools.

If there's a faster way to do something surely that's a smarter way to do something...

Mmm... I guess what I'm really searching for a better ways to do what you need to do to get traffic. Eg Sure content is important - but if you could find a software program that could help you distribute that content faster than simply manually uploading articles to article sites etc that's surely a better option...

So any other ways to do better and faster what you need to do to generate traffic... please add to the list!

          :-) B

        Sometimes....

But you can't automate relationships. You can't automate word of mouth marketing.

Playing the numbers game applies to some things, but too often people forget that the things you can automate are not necessarily the most effective things you can do.

One JV from a good relationship will out-perform anything you can automate.

I'm not saying automation is useless - it's actually very important in some parts of online business - but creating unique new value and relationships are important in life and business.

Andy, if I remember correctly in the "knowing where to tap" story, the main character still needed a hammer.

You can't automate, but you still need tools. You need tools to do a JV. There are popular networking sites which are basically networking tools. You don't need these, but they can be very helpful.

You're right that the best ways to generate traffic are not any gimmicks... But some of us need to do a lot of work until we land a JV

      I disagree.

However good we are, we are still limited to 24 hours a day to do our work.

If we work alone without assistance either of tools or actual persons we will be at a loss.

If you say "quality" traffic then I would agree that no tools in the world will be the best replacement for hard work and quality content.

But if your goal is to generate enough traffic so as to generate Buzz on your web property then I recommend always use tools.

Some say youtube is a good source of traffic, but it's not easy for your videos to be discovered. Like all sources of traffic, you'll have to work on youtube.

Now, I'll list what I know based on experience.

      1. Use twitter. Follow 2000 persons initially (1000 per day limit) then wait
usually 40% will follow you back. This is a good source of "Clicks"

      2. Submit articles (specially in EZA) traffic won't bulge in a day but it will guarantee you a steady flow throughout the year..

      3. Youtube - but this is not a miracle pill, if you think all you have to do is to upload a video, you're wrong. You still must promote the videos and place it as response to other related videos..If you don't promote, it wont get discovered.

      4. Use free classified ads. It's tedious to submit but it is a good source.

      5. Facebook/Myspace/LinkedIn - I haven't tried this yet. I'm presently concentrated on twitter. But I will report on this once I tried it.

      6. Good Old Google. - Optimized pages get ranked and when it reached the first page (specially the first position), BOOM!

      - In the end, the secret to getting traffic is to be where the people are.

People are not just in the search engine, they are also in social networks..You must learn to work on social networks. Form strategies..

To give you an Idea..I work on Classifieds and Social Networks and you know how much I get in terms of traffic? Well about 1:00 PM New York Time I got 136 hits for a single product I promote on clickbank.

And that's because I only not use tools but also formed strategies..You must gain insight on how things work..if you learn that, traffic is in your command.

It's ok - you're allowed to disagree. I'm trying ignorant enough to think I know better than everyone else.

I also use those tools and strategies to automate a lot of things. They're worth considering.

My point isn't that you have to sit at home alone and do everything manually - just that most of the things which can be automated - by their very nature are the impersonal things which can be done by computers.

I disagree that you can't be successful on your own - you can. But for IM stuff adding automated processes that support your business just makes sense.

The point is - Getting a JV with someone that you have built a relationship with (One of the most effective ways to sell anything online in my experience) cannot be done by tools and scripts.

People often get in to IM and hear the fluff about "it's a numbers game" "the money is in the list" etc.... and start throwing up as much stuff as possible to play this numbers game.

In reality - some good research, a decent product and a good JV will get better results than most other methods, so yes it's good to automate processes that support your business - but they're not the answer to creating success.

I am serious about this, I use only these three tools to get 95% of my traffic:

    1. Google
    2. Wordpress
    3. Email, to do old-fashioned link exchanges with high quality sites

All it takes to get traffic is lots of content and high PR, high traffic back-links.
