Done For You Websites

Over the years I have purchased many 'Done For You' websites, many from fellow warriors. I went through a stage of buying DFY websites that used keyword optimized domain names and keyword rich articles. These all came with a 'these will rank easy in google' type guarantee with no effort on my part.

Unfortunately none of them ever did and if they did rank in google they were for search terms nobody used. Knowing what I now know about search engines I am aware that this whole experience was a very stupid and expensive move on my part.

My goal however has not changed - I am always looking for sites that sell physical products (Amazon OK) that already have or could easily get passive traffic. I also buy traffic that is looking to buy, but sources for this are scarce in my experience.

If anybody has any experience with good purchases of traffic or good DFY sites can you post here so that we can all benefit.

I bought 3 websites in 2012, two from here, one from Flippa.

The Flippa one was rubbish to be honest. It was in the packaging niche and it was the EMD mini-site peak. But at least I only spent $100 on the thing.

A mini-site I bought from here did rather better. It was in the kid's toys niche and made a bit from AdSense. I should have really sold it on, but I let the domain expire as it wasn't really in a niche I was all that bothered about.

The other site I bought from the WF cost nearly $1000. But after a month the guy had only written 3 pages. I asked for a refund, and happily got my money back. Phew, lucky escape!

Today I'm back to building my own sites. I guess there's a lesson here!

Most niche websites on Flippa are very questionable; if you check the seller records they simply slap the same step by step formula and same sales page selling 10s of similar niche site which won't serve the new owners very well.

There are still some good options though typically make sure to do a diligent check up on the seller's record.

    The traffic part:

That depends on the web site.

Actually many of these DFY sites are excellent if you drive targeted traffic to them. I am talking about paid traffic.

If you want to get traffic via SEO: forget it. That will never work unless you
use one of those DFY sites as a base and then customize them and change the content 100%.

    The way how it works:

    1. Take 1 of the sites that you bought.
    2. Modify it (add some content, change some graphics etc.)
    3. Identify a traffic source
    4. Drive traffic

Totally agree, much of the initial work has usually been done for you with these sites you just need to follow the 4 steps mentioned above.

I suppose it varies from service to service, or nevermind suppose it really does.

My take on it is just ordering a "done for you site" will not normally amount to making a lot of money especially if you are hoping to rank via SEO.

        HOWEVER...

Using a done for you site as a 'base' to start building your own sites OR as a start to keep adding content to the site and build it up into a high ranking site can make money.

What I am trying to say is, in my experience - any site you buy, build from scratch or otherwise will have to be worked on.

I have purchased done for you Clickbank products and built them up to make a lot more than what i paid and the same with affiliate/amazon blogs but everytime I worked on getting traffic.

If you have a done for you site - make sure you have the traffic FIRST OR are working on a process to get traffic and they can be profitable, again in my experience.

I never buy done for you websites, especially in the IM niche. The reason they are done for you is because they benefit the marketer or vender of that website in some way, but not you.

They either have links that go the another website of theirs, or pays their affiliate commission and not yours, or builds their list and not yours, or has their ads on it and not yours, or brands them and not you, etc., etc.

It's always something that benefits those selling or giving away the DFY websites, but never benefits the buyer of those sites.

    Done For "you"
Keep in mind this "You" stands for every one ,
its not a costume made service "only for You"
like hpgoodboy Said : - when ever like to use DFY change and it .
DFY is good if you know how to use is correctly.

I'm pretty much in agreement with everything that is being said here. I am, however, personally of a mind that ranking sites for search engines is becoming less and less of a good idea given the amount of time it takes. So that leads on to purchasing targeted traffic that converts. Is there anything available that can be used for this other than advertising and getting click throughs?

I am a former newspaper reporter. Ten years ago I could launch a site and write 10 solid, original articles and start getting search traffic within a week.

About a year ago, I spent two months and wrote 100 quality articles only to get crap traffic on obscure keywords. Why the change?

The good keywords are being paid for by sites willing to pay $5 a click or more in some cases.

In my opinion, the days of ranking a site and making good money from it with original content are over, unless you pay are willing to pay for press release placements every day and hire two full-writers.

Paid ads have always been Google's model and now with the saturation of the marketplace and its search-engine monopoly, Google is tightening up.

I don't bother spending my days slaving over writing quality content anymore. Instead, I now pay for ads.

        That's what I have experienced.

    Here's my experience:

I had tried every self-hosted site known to man. None of them generated traffic and I lost money promoting them with adwords.

Then I read an article on Shopify.com. For $29 a month I could promote 100 products. I have less than that to sell.

Shopify had an automatic app hooking my site into google marketplace ads, not adwords, to sell my products. I spend $300 a month and generated about $600 in profits after taking out the google ads. Didn't have to get involved in the constant hassle of trying to get products approved by google. The app took care of it for a commission of 6%. No biggie.

That's it. It's so simple and it works.

No debate here. I am just giving you my experiience.

  • Hi yourstores,

I have tried done for you sites and a couple of them did get me sign ups but today I prefer to do my own and as a result get more sign ups and better conversions using my own designs and follow up emails.

Think about it; if someone is giving away their so called fully optimized website that they claim is making them money, they are right? They get paid commissions and also add more people onto their lists and some buy from them but you will only get some subscribers and few will ever buy from you?

Why would anyone give away a website that is working for them? They are giving it away because they have something a lot better and are exploiting those looking for a quick fix?

Using WordPress and the available plugins and themes allows you to create a unique website that isn't a clone of 10,000's of others even when they say you can change the appearance etc, it is still like all the rest.

I am able to create a squeeze page with a video an autoresponder code sign up box and additional pages when required in less than 1 hour so why not learn how and do this yourself so that your visitors see a site unlike thousands of others. Then they are more likely to subscribe if you give them a good reason to and follow up by helping them thereby building a relationship before selling to them every day until they all unsubscribe or simply never read your emails?

Be a rhino not one of the sheep like those who work for money in a job! Never buy so called free (they never are free) done for you websites because very few of the many on offer will make you any money online unless you already have a big targeted list and have become a traffic ninja?

This is where you make a mistake. There are no websites that will rank easily with no effort, unless the keywords are so low volume that hardly no one searches for them. Nothing wrong with DFY sites, but you have to do the work after you buy them if you expect anything from them.

If the sites are done. Now, it's time for you to outsource drive traffic and get know the conversion.

If dealing Amazon sites just forget about seo, not just get good rank, but you need heads that buy from you.

If you just sit and forget, hoping the sites can bring you $1000 commission, that's waste of time.

Outsource drive traffic - This sounds interesting. Is there any way I can find out who is good at this kind of work?

Each to their own but I have always preferred building my own sites- it means I can brand it properly as mine. Depends what niche you are in as wellof course.

kind of agree with that because site is not always quick money,as we may see there are a lot of site or mini site that have a quick money in short times and laterly dead.but if we build the site as we build our brand it will be long term business we have.
