need ideas

So one night last year while I was still in college.(i'm on the 15 yr plan) I got irritated at having to look up info on google for research, lot of the sites arent all that good. So in a moment of total insanity I went and made a website where I catalogied over 300 weblinks based on academic topics. So I have a few teachers and students using it, not many right now. I'm trying to figure out if there is a way I can make a few bucks with it, without having banners and adverts all over it. Any suggestions would be great...thanks.

    You've created a directory. You might want to check a few out and see what they're doing though I know from experience, most don't charge. Banners, Adsense, maybe.

    Is it your college specific? or can it be used for any college/college student?

    I think if you had 1 banner at the top for sponsors (education related) Serious ones not the BS ones, use your best judgement

    anyways and you rotate say 10 banners that wouldnt be bad (WF does it )

    you could also have a small donation button somewhere on the site. (To help keep it free)

    Maybe you can contact some of the links you are using and see if they want to pay for premium listing? (Just moving their site twoards the top of the page)

    Depending on the sites name maybe you could lease out subdomain,, Without knowing the name this ones a tough sell for me

    I'm sure there are plenty other "subtle" ways you can monetize. Just think outside the box and be creative. If you need help PM me.

    Without the Knowing about your Site name and Statistic its bit Hard

    But if in Long run you want to make some thing Big

    like helping Student to learn some thing Valuable on-line

    then contact some teacher record some Video

    you can make a site like "khan academy" ( google it )

      As it is now, if you are not willing to plaster banner ads all over it I would not bother.

      To monetize it properly you would probably need to go out and sell premium listings. That takes time, energy and skill.

      Stick a donate button on every page and see if anyone bites.
