Adult affiliate - is there money to be made???

I know that porn is just about the biggest thing wanted online.
Question - is it possible to make money from adult affiliate offers?
If so, how?
I ask as there is so much free porn online, so why would people pay for it?
Regards

Until I think it was 2003 or 2004 porn traffic was the largest amount of traffic there was.

One of those years that stopped being the case. Since then porn's traffic has been steadily falling.

It's possible to make money doing almost anything online. As for how ... that depends.

Your own actual site (expensive to set up) or with affiliate marketing.

In both cases you're looking at both SEO and PPC as the primary methods of traffic generation to your offers. (hmmm ... sounds like most other markets)

The only thing is that porn is a VERY competitive market making weight loss and IM look like sand boxes for children. SEO experts are paid massive sums if they can get a site to leapfrog above competition and PPC costs can be quite high.

In other words, you might be looking to enter an area not really suited to a "newbie."

HAVING SAID THAT, you're definitely (sort of) on the right track with picking something to market online.

Porn is about fulfilling a desire. It's about taking a interest set and giving them what they WANT.

It isn't about "finding a problem" and solving it. It's about finding something that people WANT and giving them that.

So instead of porn (which is a rough market) why not look to other "interest sets" where people have some kind of desire they want fulfilled.

English style horse-riders desire to ride better ... someone wanting to become a bodybuilder and helping them become more muscular ... a lonely guy that that wants a hot girlfriend ... etc

Each of those are meant to fulfill a desire of someone in the market.

Possibly not really what you were looking for but I hope this helps.

Porn is still big business. And people do pay for it. So yes, there is money to be made in the adult niche. That said, it's also highly competetive. You'll need to carve out a niche within a niche.

One profitable niche seems to be live video chat. Tube sites can't put it up for free and people pay good money for a unique experience. It's worth a look.

I have no experience in the adult niche, so I'm only telling you what I've heard from others. Take your time to do proper research. Make sure your web hosting company accepts adult oriented sites. Not all of them do.

    Good luck!

Thank you very much for your kind advice, yes you are right, I will have to do a great deal of research, if I want to venture into this. Just worried as there is so much of free porn, why will people pay for it.
Best wishes and regards. Thank you.

Why porn? There are many other profitable niches. Porn is not a part of solution but part of a problem on the net. Sorry.

      Why porn? Why not porn?
I asked about how to make money from porn, not why porn!

      What's the problem with porn?
Everyone has choice and freedom to choose whatever they want.
And by the way porn is one of the profitable niches.

      @ OP

      Yes, people pay for porn.
I have a friend who runs a paid porn site and he makes fortune from his site.
Not all porn videos are available free to be watched. Some classic videos can only be seen after making payments.

A lot of the blogger style review site for the individual actors often used affiliate links in their pictures so that when people click through it guarantees that some number, however small, will pull out their credit cards for that particular site.

It's a very subtle attempt at selling - it's almost not selling at all but being a referrer. You're not selling because you're just sending traffic that is already essentially presold.

Some of the larger porn review sites out there use this subtle approach at marketing to make some pretty hefty commissions.

So is there money to be made? You better fricken believe there is

There is money to be made. And its funny when people think "Adult affiliate" is automatically just porn. There's casual dating, adult dating. Sites like ashleymadison and so forth. My business partner started an adult dating site (which I'm an affiliate manager for) back in July where his highest affiliate makes 50 sales a day til this day.

Here's the thing. To get straight to the point. There are a ton of sexually aroused people out there that will spend whatever it takes to get them satisfied.

No by adult affiliate, I was not thinking just porn, well anyway, it's hard to explain.
So, I took the word porn.

You say - There are a ton of sexually aroused people out there that will spend whatever it takes to get them satisfied.

It brings me back to the same query, when there is so much of this - again I have no word to use but "porn" - why will people pay for it???

This is what is confusing me.

The reason I am asking so many questions is that I am serious about starting some kind of -lol - "porn" site - again that word -
BUT - as there is so much free stuff - I do not know why people will pay for it - and if they do - why are they doing so when they can get it for free?

I know it may seem like I am beating around the bush, but as I said, I really want to get into that niche and so the queries.

Thanks again for your help, appreciate it.
      Best wishes and regards.

Some people pay for "it" in order to access a certain quality of product or niche content within the market. With so much free content out there, the better quality films will still have copyright restrictions on them to ensure that free sharing is restricted.

Good luck with your business ambitions Ricardo.

I would say that people will pay for something they can't get elsewhere. In the context of "porn" (including other adult sites) that may be images or movies in an ultra-targeted niche that isn't broad enough to attract too many other publishers / affiliates - specialisation is always going to be profitable!

As someone else mentioned, the live video chat niche also falls under that category - if the customer REALLY wants to see that chat host doing something specific, it's something that they just can't get without paying, and many will do so.

Well that is just my problem, what is it that is not available for free online in this category?

Sure, I understand that there are very specific niches and very specific requirements, but even then, that too is available for free.

This is why I posted this thread, hoping to find the right answers.

If I were going into adult sites right now, I'd go and find a long list of fetishes and paraphilias, exclude the obviously illegal ones and anything else that seems unacceptable, then start doing research on competition in each niche.

Naturally, there will almost certainly be someone, somewhere, promoting material in that niche, but unless it's a niche they actually understand, there's every chance that it won't be particularly appealing to someone who's really into it - I'd say find a niche that looks like it might be workable, research the hell out of it until you understand what it is about it that appeals to its fans, then go from there. Just because something is available for free doesn't necessarily mean that it's the best or most relevant material around. As with anything else, if you can provide something they want, people will buy.

Of course, that's not always easy to do, particularly if you don't want to produce your own content. In that case, I'd go with adult dating and / or video chat. There are people who actively seek out pay-for video chat, or are prepared to pay for what a specific model offers. Again, you could target models who specifically offer nice interests, which you'd need to research first, which might narrow things down a bit.

I think a lot of these free port sites have upgrades. Not sure!
It's like online gambling is huge and there are some good affiliate networks you can team up with.

You can make commissions on deposites that people put in their accounts and people deposit like 50 thow in these accounts....

    Porn is crazy as well...

It's where ever your morals, values and what you want to share with the marketplace that matters.

There is money to be made of course! You can use the adult traffic networks (ExoClick, Traffic Junky), you can buy advertising space on adult sites, catchy put there banner, link it to CPA offer and you will get paid for every guy who creates free account on some good converting dating site.

It requires lot of testing and some decent budget though.

Porn is not hard, it's easier than "Main Stream" IM. Go look at any site that you were thinking of, the site that got you interested in "porn" in the first place. Analyze the site. Look at it carefully. Do what they're doing but add your own twist. Simplify what they're doing if you find that they are doing too much. Combine other ideas. IM 101

Create your site and get traffic. You may have to spend a lot of money. You can then buy traffic from sites MaroshIS mentioned and there are many others. You can make an app that goes to your site or that cost money to use. Depending on what you build and your skills, you might not have to spend a dime.

Adult sites have rabid fans if you scratch the itch just right. Like facebook or twitter, they visit their favorite site everyday. Yes there is free stuff everywhere but finding it can be a challenge if you are looking for something specific.

Cam whitelabel sites seems to well if you can get the correct traffic.

A friend runs a big boob blog with cam links and banners that convert extremely well.

You might want to check out GFY.

Like others already have written, there's livecams and dating. There's also interactive features within members areas that are not available on a tgp or tube site such as chat or livecam with your favorite model/pornstar. Participate to win prices such as private clothing or dates etc.
Maybe join a site you plan on promoting and see for yourself what they have that freeloaders don't get access to. Makes for a good blogpost to write about it in your own words instead of relying on promo products alone.

I heard a quote from Dan Kennedy saying that Adult merchandise
is actually the MOST POPULAR items to be sold on the internet.

There are a number of porn advertising networks where you
can get cheap traffic. I'd start there.

Then, depending on the item, I would also do press releases
and build it up from there!

I stay away from anything that might put me in the crosshairs of the US government. The US has 5% of the world's population, and 25% of the worlds prison population.

When it comes to adult sites, if you don't dot an 'i" or cross a 'T", you may find yourself in a place you'd rather not be for 5 or 10 years.

This is true if you are running your own mainstream (non affiliate) adult site that contains under age porn, pirated videos amnd images, not having the necessary release documents of the models etc.

You are usually safe running adult affiliate sites. The main site takes care of all the legal issues.

However, just make sure the main site actually pays the affiliates. Some will stiff the affiliates with their commission. GFY is a good place to search before joining affiliate sites.

I hope GFY approves your membership soon!

Of course it is. A lot of my customers (those who use my scripts) are promoting adult paysites, webcams and dating. Since they are not poor people, I can assume that their business is still very profitable. Maybe not as profitable than 10 years ago, but still worthy.

The main advantage of adult business over the mainstream one is the amount of various promo content that the affiliates can legally use on their websites w/o fear to be sued for copyright violation. Good promo tools like texts, videos and images that available via RSS and XML feeds is something that mainstream affiliates have serious problems with.

I mean my content curation plugin for WordPress. It can be used for both mainstream and adult. The adult webmasters mostly use it to run self-populated WP-powered sites (gelleries, pinboards video tubes etc) that use legal promo content provided by 100's of affiliate programs. I don't want to turn this thread into an advertisement, thus if you have any questions/looking for examples etc, please don't hesitate to email me: cyberseo@cyberseo.net

Well here are some of the problems you'll likely run into. One is that most sites out there seem to host content which violates copyright; they simply take pics from paid sites and then put them on their free sites so they can get views to their ads. Either that, or someone makes a site that features pictures from other free sites, but those pics were pirated in the first place. So I don't know how many people get away with it for how long, but it doesn't seem like a good idea.

To get around this problem, one could become an affiliate and then use the pics those sites allow you to use in order to not violate copyright. However, it's sort of a catch 22, because then how are you going to show them you're up to the task of being an affiliate when you can't show them a site in the first place, because if you had a site with pics, you would have had to use pirated images in the first place!

And as far as earning affiliate commissions, people say that there's very few people who are willing to pay for this anymore since there's so much available for free. In fact, the entire industry is on it's way down because of it. Revenue is being lost at an alarming rate.

It seems like a lot of people earn with adult cpa offers for things like cams sites. However, it seems like the whole issue of having pirated images on your site seems to be the biggest problem.

Doesn't work that way, most all adult affiliate programs offer photo and video content to use for promotion and will approve those without a site. Most programs are set to auto approve affiliates.

And most adult sites don't have the term CPA anywhere on them, PPS or Revshare is what you will see.

Exactly. There are 100'000's of images and videos that can be used by affiliates to promote pay sites absolutely legally w/o fear to be sued for copyright infringement. Just use the proper content curation tools and you'll see what easy money is.

The old way of marketing porn from the dinosaur era is still used by most online but this strategy will barely make you any money. There are two main ways that make good money.

Large multi niche tube sites with CPA banners and popunders

    Or

Focusing on promoting a actress that has very limited free content, some people (world is a big place so this is scalable) buy some people are obsesed with a porn actress and will sell there grandmother to see more of her, watch her new movies ect so look out for fresh girls coming up in the industry and build sites round them.

Affiliate marketing is very simple concept, it is having little series to make money, as we all know that people are interested to earn money to secure there future. It is not very easy task to make money from any side , there are so many ways to earn money especially online. You need a site or blog to make money online, you can post blogs relevant to specific site to advertise your sites and they pay for you for that advertisement.

Seeing as the adult business is making $3000 of sales a second, I assume it's pretty profitable haha.
There's loads of ways to make money with this niche, you can set up webcam shows and bring in traffic, you can download videos and start a website based around it and stick on adult ads.

There are some ethical concerns regarding it such as the use of women in webcams especially if they are quite young such as the age of 19 etc. However, it is not that much of a problem and can easily become profitable in the long run.

For one, I would stay off GFY till you learn about adult a little first. It can get mean there.
Start with joining up at xbiz to learn about adult, easier crowd there
I was at one time a moderator for both gfy and xbiz, that was fun.
Money today in adult for an affiliate is promoting cams, dating, solo girls sites.
Recurring income from these can add up fast, if you get a whale on cams, that one sign up could make your year!

White labels when used right can generate a lot of money for you.

Also consider getting into media buying like the rest of the big guys in the industry. Carefully study the quality of traffic and customize your targeting options until you get better results. Use google analytics

    If so, how?
I ask as there is so much free porn online, so why would people pay for it?
    Regards
I believe it is still a lot of money to be made on porn. Live cams are doing very well, they are barely affected by piracy. It is a huge market and there are always will be people who will purchase porn.

There will always be a demand for sex and sex related products.
