Honest content, written from the heart.

Writing to please some sort of unseen SEO god is a recipe for a lackluster site, IMO.

Good content will help your reader's...your potential clients and customers...

Anything that's of decent value related to the specific discussion etc is
      considered good content...

Such as this post...answering your question...I would consider good content
because it possibly helps you...at least I hope so...

Just give 'em what you would want to be given...good quality original
information...that's got the 'meat and potatoes' served up front...

  • Depends on the niche. It should, however, always deliver the value your readers are looking for. Something that is engaging and easy to read. Ideally it should be formatted in a way that encourages the reader to keep going.

    Minimal spelling/grammar issues.

Good content is writing that serves no SEO purpose but it's written because it's related to your website's theme. If you've picked a competitive niche, you should have no problem finding stuff to write about. Pretend like you're writing to impress. Put forth your best efforts.

While your question is a vague one with many possible answers, I think it is safe to say that "good content" is unique content that engages your audience and serves its intended purpose (btw, always know what that is). It should make your customers/readers want to buy your product, share your information, and keep coming back for more. If it's for the web, it should probably also be optimized for search.

Good content is when you offer something that no one else does. Evey one has a unique view on things that is where you start.

If you write about things you do not know you content most likely sucks. SO you might as well stick to things you know or enjoy reading about.

Good content is content written for users
        not to please Google.

Having said that, don't be afraid to test things
or lose and not get roi. Then you'll lose time (maybe
years). Also, thats the real way to know what really

You have to know who your audience is and then write to them.
Once you have that figured out, it helps if its helpful, worth reading, entertaining, etc..

If you've ever came back to a website because of an article you read, chances are you ran into good content.

A good content is something that can engage a reader to move or to have an action. Let us face it, we write and create content to influence, to sell, etc. You will know you have a good content when someone made an action based on your content.

-Not a lot of words means a good content.
-Straight to the point with your title
    -Keep it story and interesting.

Probably, the main point is the...

Just write. The question is, what are you writing about? That's why you need to understand your target audience, narrow down your niche, do KWA, and understand your narrow niche. You need to be an expert in your field.

A good writer writes to his / her audience. You need to feel the pain points of your audience, and offer solution to their problems.

IM is not for the feint-hearted, get off your fears and write! But do you know what you'll be generating content about?

Bascically its the frank kern approach here....

    which is....

You need to give your prospect stuff, for FREE that they can go away and not only make money with it, but come back to you again and again and crave more.

That is what business success is all about. Wanting to help, but actually helping.

Leaving them flabbergasted, and saying hey if this is what xx can do for me for FREE, imagine if I PAY him for his expertise.

Help first, and the money will follow.

Good content is written with the reader in mind and not search engines. Ignore searching for the best keywords and trying to cram them in and writing your content around them, it simply doesn't work and you end up with terrible articles. The same goes for article spinners.

Regarding getting started. Don't hold back getting started through fear of failure. I can guarantee that some things you try will go well, some will go even better than you expect, some will be disappointing and others will be a complete waste of time. Trouble is you won't know which is which without taking action.

Stop the madness! You can read a lot of poor quality answers on this page to get a quick understanding of what good content is not.

Notice it's not fluff & filler like "Good Content is special because people like it" or "hahaha... a bird just flew into my window"

The last part might not have been what you were thinking, I know.

But the birds love flying into my window and that one made me question life and rethink my agenda. So here goes, your answer in plain text.

Good (or great) content helps people.

It provides a solution to a problem, answers a question, motivates or in some way or another reveals something the reader did or did not know before in a way that leaves the reader feeling as if they just read, watched or listed to the best content ever.

Look at the greats, (insert the famous business names you know and love here). They all have one thing in common. They understand presentation and how to deliver content in a way that you feel like it's high quality, even though sometimes it isn't.

People will rarely remember your name, where you grew up, or the name of your kid.

But they'll always remember the way you made them feel.

So if you can master the way you make people feel with your content, you'll have the highest quality content possible. And I think that's what we're all after, isn't it?

I'm sorry guys, but writing content that can be easily read by computer, Google or just for keyword density doesn't sound like 'good content' to me.
      I'm not a robot.

If your watching TV or a movie, are you more concerned about how many frames per second there are?, or would you rather watch an interesting program / film?
We need to write for our audience - the end user.

People, including ourselves (we are the consumers as well as the creators) want to be entertained or to have our emotions moved.
We want to feel something, happy or sad, excited or angry, anything but numb.
We don't want to count keywords.

The whole internet if flooded with spun, uninteresting content that might please Google, but it doesn't please me.

This is a biased answer. Good content is content that has been given a lot of thought and time. I can and do write on tons of topics, but the cost has to justify the means. When I have a client paying more for my services, I can produce amazing work. This will include:

    Content that is highly researched.
Different viewpoints from what is the standard in the industry.
Content that links out to resources and has been planned perfectly.

When you are able to spend time on content, you can write 2000 word pieces that have readers glued to the screen. These articles rank highly in Google, get natural shares and come up for a ton of keywords. This, to me, is what good content is about. Your content needs to flow well, it needs to attract shares and your content needs to be unique. Everyone is tired of the same articles rewritten at $5 for 500 words.

Think outside of the box. Will someone trust your site if it is filled with unreadable text and has the same regurgitated content?

P.S. P.S. P.S. Relax on KW density. I have many clients with 10 keywords that want them all in a 500 word article 3+ times. These keyword phrases, used this often, kill the way the article flows.

But that's not really an example of good content is it. Sounds kinda generic and could be good or could be bad depending on the quality of the post.

Just answering your audiences questions isn't enough if you answer them badly or don't go into enough detail.

You need to answer them in the most definitive way their question has ever been answered and then some to make REALLY great content.
