For me, Aweber is a paid AR. But it has one of the best AR. Free AR is good but will the mail you sent will be in the JUNK or INBOX?

I recommended for you is AWEBER. Sorry, I do not know any free AR.

Imagine if you collected 1K list, if the AR does not work as you wanted, isnt it a waste?

Mail Chimp is free and easy to use. Untill you reach 2000 subscribers you can use all of its features free and send emails 12000 times.

Use one of the recognised ARs (eg. aweber) otherwise you're asking for your emails to end up in the spam box.

Now of course it's not aweber, it's not some paid solution that's highly optimized for a smooth user experience. But it is effective; it is free (great for beginners who got started because they were struggling financially in the first place); and the few really bothersome things like the ListWire logo embedded in your optin forms can be removed by deleting a few lines of HTML in the form code.

It's not perfect, but for beginners I highly recommend it.

No autoresponder fits everyone's needs. Even Aweber has successful users who hate it so much that they find other AR's. Just last week I read someone's comments (perhaps here in this forum) who had decided that after using Aweber for a long time he just didn't want to pay for an AR when he didn't have to and was moving to ListWire.

So don't be afraid of getting started with "the best free AR on the web." It may be a bit more effort to figure out how to use, and it does not have ALL the bells and whistles -- but it does have everything you need.

P.S.- This is my first post on the WarriorForum and I kind of came out swinging. Have I been too offensive by challenging people's presentation of the subject matter? Are we not to call out other sales-people on their B.S.? (even if my calling out was just my perception or opinion?).

I need to get started with a AR, I am not using one now but awhile back I tried the aweber trial and its awesome. I did read somewhere that you should pick the service that you will stay with because its a pain in the ass to transfer lists between services and people may have to re opt in.

So even if there is a decent free one up to 2000 subscribers or something and then they start charging close to what you would be paying on aweber anyway, then you are stuck with the lesser service paying the same as you would be with aweber.

So bottom line use the $1 1st month on aweber and if it takes you 3 months to build up a decent list then it only costs you $39 and you have all your subscribers opted in on the best service and you are good to go.

If you're tight for cash and want an autoresponder you should look into ImnicaMail... It's $3 per month for 500 subscribers or something like that. Don't waste your time with those free AR's because they have advertising in your emails.

The thing is with asking a question like this on here, is almost everybody is in the IM niche, and only paid auto-responders work for this niche.

So most of your answers will be aweber and getresponse.

I'm using mailchimp for my niche, it's free and its works perfectly. You can send affiliate offers directly in your emails with mailchimp as long as it's not spam. Although i generally send my list back to my site.

So it depends what niche your in. If it's IM then yes your going to need a paid service.

I have used mailpoet formerly Wysija Newsletters and it seemed good.

Recently Aweber has been delivering to far less then 50% of my subscribers. Canning Aweber and going for a self hosted solution and Amazon SES.

What I pay right now for Aweber monthly I could be sending 400K + emails each month for the same costs.

Mail chimp is what I use but you have to start paying if you want over 2000 subscribers

FWIW, I've used Aweber, GetResponse, Infusionsoft, and arpReach.

While I use Infusionsoft for one of my businesses, I now prefer GetResponse over Aweber for standard list building/email marketing purposes.

Ummm... there are other alternatives besides what is mentioned above (such as the biggies aWeber & getResponse). If you want to continuously pay a higher amount as your subscriber list grows - go ahead. However - I chose Trafficwave with a successful 14 year track record with unlimited subscribers at a low flat rate. I know there are others who switched from aWeber over to Trafficwave because of the price issue (note GR & AW obviously have a great product).

If you want free, you only have a few autoresponders to pick from like ListWire. Listwire will send you, the list owner, lots of emails but they won't touch your list.

Another option these days is to run your own email autoresponder server from WordPress. There are several free and low cost options that are very well built. It requires a bit more work in the setup, but you'll be saving quite a bit on monthly fees.

I use Getresponce because it's really good and many companies and people uses them now though there are others using Aweber or GVO but I didn't find them that good.

Mail chimp is a good one to try out if you have never use it they are truly good and I think they are getting better soon you should go have a look at it.

YMLP is great if your starting out and they are stupidly cheap.

Remember, if your going for free, you'll usually get what you pay for!

If you choose an autoresponder i wouldn't just let the pricing determine my decision if i were you. The most important part is that your emails land in the inbox of your subscribers and not in the spam folder. Obviously the paid options will have a higher inbox delivery rate than the free (or cheap) options unless you want to use double optins for all your squeeze pages. (which will drastically decrease your conversions bc people are lazy)

I've used many in the past, still use more than one (Mail Chimp, Imnica, Campaign Monitor & ARPReach at least), have a couple in the wings waiting to be tested out (I provide email systems to offline businesses, so as to what's best then it depends on what you want to do.

I use ARPReach for self-hosting but have used other self-hosted providers in the past. For me ARPReach gives the best set of features that allow me to configure funnels in a variety of flexible ways. The downside is that if you don't know what you're doing then you are reliant on their support. There are some things that can frustrate, and because some marketers don't develop with HTML formcode and only develop some plugins with the big two or three (aweber, GetResponse & MailChimp), then you have to check if you can use your service with those bits of software.

When it comes to support then no self-hosted company can really compete with paid hosting. A self-hosted provider is not getting the level of regular monthly payments like an aweber or GetResponse is. So if you want complete hands off with some of the more technical sides then choose a service like GetResponse. If you have small numbers at present and want free then go with MailChimp to take advantage of their free plan. Someone also mentioned Imnica and I use them and it's a very well priced service, but like aweber has experienced recently, in the past they've had poor deliverability issues - though I believe after changing out a lot of their server hardware that all has been good again for a while.

Another factor is whether you want to use your email system as a mini-CRM. If you do then look at systems where the email address is the primary key i.e. you can see each and every interaction that this subscriber has made. With systems such as aweber then the last time I used it this was not the case. By this to clarify that it makes more sense financially for the email company to count each subscription of an email as counting towards your email numbers. So if the same email address signs up for the weight loss E-Book, and again for the Pit Bull list then it counts twice. It leads to poorer list management and getting two or three emails to the same person. Whether this has been changed and is still the case I'm not sure. I still get 2 or 3 emails to the same address, all from aweber from some big IM names so if aweber has made it possible to prevent duel sending, then these marketers are not familiar or not bothering with performing list management.!

I am starting out like you and what i do is the following:
I started my blog, start driving taffic. At the moment i am preparing a great offer, i will give away for free for my subscribers. Once that is all in place i am going to sign up with aweber - as i agree to many warriors here.
The list is too important to not go with an reputable service. The 19$ per month should not be an issue after a few months, when starting to earn money.
But - it is your decission - choose wisley! All the best for your efforts.

im just curious,what if you send ads to 4million people and say you only have a 2% optin rate well that is 80,000 emails into your ar.so now the question is now automatically will your mthly charge with a ar company will increase?so I can see where if you do paid traffic then your list will grow very big very fast and your mthly ar charge will skyrocket right?

sorry for the lazy question above,,,i jus called aweber to find out the price increase of active subscribers,,,WOW u know for someones first big ad campaign not knowing if you are going to earn good enough and all of a sudden you have a mthly price increase because your subscriber list grew enormously say 100k suscribers then your looking at 800 dollar payment

I would never use a free auto responder...you get what you pay for and you can not expect to get much from a free service. Go with Get Response or Aweber.

If you have paid website hosting, then you already have access to 'free' autoresponders in your control panel. Wordpress might also have a 'free' plug in for auto responder. You can Google this online to find one.

If you are serious about making money building a list then you should invest in an auto-responder service. If however you are only concerned with trying out the waters first then you should try getresponse for 30days free or aweber for just $1 for the first month.

I recommend trafficwave. They offer unlimited subscribers for $17.95. It is as powerful as Aweber or getResponse. The only downside that I see is they allow only double opt-in.
They also offer a 10 level deep affiliate program, from which I am earning a decent income using my sales funnel! So, essentially, I am getting the auto-responder for free!

With Lst Wire you can have 100,000 subscribers for free. And they have been around a couple of years now so your list won't disappear anytime soon.

But eventually you want an auto-responder you pay for. As that is the only way to safeguard your list

I wouldn't recommend using ListWire. Mailchimp is much better and it's free to start with them. Look carefully under pricing and you can see it's free start with them and scale from there if you successfully grow your subscribers.

do a google search for benchmark e-mail free this is a e-mail service that is free for life the only catch is u need to use your own forms to capture e-mail address but it does incorporate into un-bounce which is a paid service for landing pages.

Just curious.....to all those who recommend Getresponse or have used it, would you say that it is an autoresponder that is easy to figure out and navigate for someone who has never done something like this before?


I have been trying to narrow down which I autoresponder I am going to use for my very first list that I want to build and have watched some vids about Getresponse, which I am leaning towards because of the price and because I like the look of most of their templates, but I am just wondering how user friendly it is for someone who has never ever done anything like this before?


I do realize that it is free to try out for the first month, but I would rather start with something that I will stick with for the long haul because I just don't want to have to go through the headache of trying to figure out how to move my list to a different autoresponder.


Any thoughts would be appreciated.....thanks!

Personally I don`t recommend you to use free auto responder service. You may use any free tools on internet marketing business, but when it comes to email marketing it`s better to choose the right tool that can guarantee your success within your advertising campaigns

I used Getresponse for a while and it does the job perfectly without any hassle.

Stay away from free AR. If your interested in starting a business take it serious. Do yourself a favor and go with a paid service. To many head aches can come free services.
