From there you can start link building, through different types of outreach to sites / blogs etc.

Start out with your content first and foremost.

Combine your email marketing with blogging and now you can increase those repeat visitors. Give your email subscribers a tease of the full post and let them click back to the post.

I don't want to read a 500-1000 word email but have no problem reading that much on a blog.

Also instead of just sending affiliate offer swipes, link back to your blog for a full product review going the soft sell route.

Exactly, it's all about publishing highly helpful quality content. You can post all the mediocre content you want but you will not become the authority in your niche. I would also add that if you want to increase traffic and tour traffic is plateauing at the moment. Then either creating a different category of your niche related to your site topic can help you grow. The other method too is going onto a different marketing channel such as podcasts, youtube, facebook, or wherever you don't have a presence yet can help.

Also if your not an seo guy or gal you could just do a blog post formatted to your standard and then blast through your list, facebook groups and also create some videos for that particular post

Every content you create are seeds that in the future will become your harvest.

You can use different types of "seeds" like youtube seeds since its the second to Google as a search engine and you can rank pretty quickly on youtube even without any backlinks.

Here is just one technique I use to increase my traffic.

closely related keywords. You may have to drill down 10-20

blog comment you make to create traffic back to your blog.

You will find that most or all of the bloggers mentioned on your
list will link to it. After all, it will benefit their visitors to read
the other useful posts on the same related topic.

You should get substantial direct traffic if you are including well
established bloggers in your list. Plus, you will get increased
opt-in list members who will enrich you with repeat traffic from
email marketing.
