Glass Stain/Art Niche?

Hey fellow warriors,

I was wondering if anyone out there knows of any reports or ebooks available about Glass Staining, glass art?

Is there a niche for this market? Does anyone have or know anybody that operates a site like this? I have some questions about shipping and pricing the sale of these glass pieces.

If you have ANY input, please let me know. I am working on doing some work for and marketing a gentlemans glass stain work but he is reluctant about a few things. I would like some "ammo" to help convince him to get started.

Anyone help?

Thanks in advance,

Craig Raphael

This is a tiny niche populated by perfectionists.

I can imagine that your gentleman is reluctant to see a major marketing programme because more production would probably nean that he has less time to deal with his established clients and also reduce the flexibility he has at the moment to experiment on each project.

Some glass stainers will purchase commercially produced sheet glass and then re-stain cuts in order to create that hand made feel and look but their sole competitive edge on commercially produced stained glass is the fact that it is hand made, hand stained, hand cut and hand assembled.

Shipping and pricing are inexact sciences and depend to a great extent on the size and weight of each piece and the amount of time and quantity of materials used in the production.

You might not like what I say - but I believe it.
Build it, make money, then build some more
Some old school smarts would help - and here's to Rob Toth for his help. Bloody good stuff, even the freebies!
