ByeBye Firefox I have had it with shockwave crashes

I have used firefox for at least 5 years, maybe longer. I have been suffering thru the shockwave flash crashes for over a year, so I decided to fix it this weekend. Updated all the plugins, updated shockwaveflash, did everything Mozilla said to do and still no joy. Going back to Internet Explorer.
Is Mozilla just not supporting their web browser any more? You would think they would have designed a fix by now to the flash crashes.

Know what you mean totally - I was just working on a blog post this morning - IE wouldn't let me enter URL's in blog post and Firefox was crashing when I tried to embed YouTube video - arghhh...

Well, I'm sorry for you but I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one having this problem. I assumed it was something going on with my computer and I just haven't had the time to deal with it.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts about this, you saved me some time. I guess I'll start using Chrome a little more until Mozilla finds a fix.

Tried it and at first it seemed faster than FF. Now I'm not so sure. Problems:

      - Inability to control cookies per website
      - No cache control
      - Inability to render pdf files being generated on my local court site
      - Lack of extensions
      - Ad blocker a joke
      - Odd stuff happens, like a web page reappearing in a new tab long after the tab had been closed
      - Takes forever to start up

After being unable to log into the support forum and getting unintelligible errors I threw up my hands in frustration and deleted it off my computer.

    Chrome is the best IMO.

I used to love firefox, but I experienced a unique bug where Firefox wouldn't properly close, so when executing it would say "Firefox didn't properly close".

This error existed across multiple machines... It was frankly unacceptable.

Chrome is really fast. Can't complain.

Funny how many folks have trouble with FF, I've used it for 5 years and never had a problem with it at all (except 1 major update they did).

Chrome may be a little faster, but it belongs to Big G... and then so do you, much like your keywords in G. Analytics

Over the years I have never had a problem with FF and other browsers. Friends and clients have reported problems to me with FF and other browsers, but it was always due to something outside of FF. Once I introduced CCleaner to them their problems stopped.

CCleaner from CCleaner.com has always been my main utility and it is the reason why my browsers do not have any problems with flash, java, etc.

Also, I maintain java updates as needed, but I only do updates after the update has been tested by professionals and is known to work.

I use CCleaner almost daily, have done so for several years. I also update java, etc. when the update has proven stable, and keep all other programs updated, as well.

I also use Firefox, and the shockwave flash still crashes multiple times a day, across 3 different computers. Two of those computers barely even have any programs on them, the third has quite a few.

Funny, - CCleaner has not stopped all my problems.

After upgrading from Win7 to Win8 Pro, CCleaner keeps on crashing when at around 30% of the cleaning proces.

  • I used to love Firefox but when I started having problems with it a couple of years ago, I started using Chrome and I haven't looked back since. Chrome is faster, more reliable, and easier to use.

It's a shame really, Firefox evolved from Netscape - the leader in the browser market in the 1990s and I always liked it, but times change.
Some versions have been better than others and when they iron out some small issues I'm sure it'll be back on top.

I think each browser has it's benefits and it's faults - just choose what your happy with.

I'm using Chrome for the time being as I want to make sure Google has full control over me!!

Some folks say here chrome is fast. Do you say it because you heard so or is it really fast?

I have tested IE, FF and Chrome multiple times and compared the results and found IE always performed better. Chrome was using the most resources. However, I prefer FF over IE.

    Thanks

It's a common problem. It happened to me too and then I switched to Chrome. Eventually it crashed, too. The only browser that worked properly for the longest period of time was Opera.

Just went back to Chrome on my PC after having multiple Fire Fox crashes. The popup about the "plug in" being busy was driving me insane.

I watch a lot of streaming video at home (Netflix, Hulu, etc.) and FF kept on crashing on me. It actually seemed to be getting worse over time.

Just switched to watching my streaming video on Chrome and it's as quick and smooth as can be.

I was a loyal Firefox user for the longest until it just wouldn't even open anymore on my computer, so I switched to Chrome..
Firefox has since started working again, but Chrome has yet to give me any reasons to go back..

Yup, mine too - crashes all the time. Just unbelievable how Mozilla has let their browser turn into a schizophrenic pile of junk. But Microsoft still doesn't "get it" when it comes to IE even after all these years. Looks like Google is gonna win this war too.

Just another vote for Chrome here

I tend to use both Firefox and Chrome because I can't let go off my old beloved browser. Most other browsers here I have never heard of before. But the consensus seems to be that anything is better than IE
