  • The Keyword planner and Amazon.com would be where I would start
  • Amazon for sure should be the starting point. But I'd also check ebay - a lot of cross shopping going on between those platforms. So you'll get a different perspective looking there. Powerful statistics and great tutorials on how to use them.

    • I would type a generic term for your chosen niche into the amazon search bar, and see what results it shows and target those. Reason being, the results Amazon is showing in that search bar are the terms/phrases people are actively searching on a daily basis.

  • Search for discussions about electronics in subreddits. You will find great keywords and products browsing those subreddits.

  • There’s a manual way and an automated way to find the most expensive items on Amazon that also are in high demand.

To do it manually go to Amazon.com and from within the search bar choose a ‘department’ then click into the search bar and click ‘Go’ and let the new page load up.

Then below the search box you’ll see a button labelled ‘best sellers’ (not all departments have this for some reason), click it.

On the right hand side of the screen you’ll see an area that says ‘more to explore in DEPARTMENT NAME’ and below that will be ‘hot new releases’, ‘movers and shakers’ and ‘top rated’.

Click ‘see top 100′ in the ‘top rated’ category.

It will then bring up the most rated products which usually means the most popular ones.

Scroll through looking for high priced products with lots of reviews.

However that’s pretty time consuming and mind numbing and there’s no guarantee you’ll find high priced products with lots of reviews.

    To automate this process….

There is a software package called AmaSuites which can do this.

You can enter a list of criteria such as must be priced over $100 and have 50+ reviews into the software and it returns HUGE lists of products which match.

The software can also provide extra data like keywords people are using on Amazon to search for products, whether those product keywords have low SEO competition, if there are exact match domains available, Google insight data and more.

I originally wrote about this on my blog. I have a couple of posts that list high demand and expensive products.

    • Unless you are planning to pay for your traffic

What good are any of those tools for finding products if you have no chance to be listed on page one of Google Search

My opinion is find something you like to sell and then check it against the Google search results

Not being able to rank is a waste of time

What I am finding these days is market saturation for keyword research since everyone is using keyword planner as a starting point

When millions of people do this don't you think your competition is doing this also

Keyword Planner is dead because of this

I know just about everyone is brain washed to look at keyword planner first but common sense dictates otherwise

There is much better ways to find niche products and ability to rank on page one of Google without using keyword planner for research

My best advice is to get away from the pack and think of alternate ways to find buyers the answers to this are everywhere if you think out of the box

    • But can you use it to find profitable items to send into Amazon for FBA? That's the question...
  • Identifying a good Amazon product to be an affiliate for, versus finding good FBA products are two very different things. You can be an affiliate for just about anything they sell. For FBA you absolutely need to find a way to source the correct product at the proper price. It is not always simple but it is very feasible.
