Amazon for sure should be the starting point. But I'd also check ebay - a lot of cross shopping going on between those platforms. So you'll get a different perspective looking there. Powerful statistics and great tutorials on how to use them.

Search for discussions about electronics in subreddits. You will find great keywords and products browsing those subreddits.

Scrapebox keyword scraper tool and then select Amazon as source.

2900 exact searces, and the other numbers probably represent the CPC (cost per click), data comes from keyword planner in Adwords.

So you first searched on Amazon and then searched that term on Google Planner? How does it give you idea of what people search on Amazon?

This is just to find inspiration for a niche / search volume (it says nothing about competition of course).

After that I head over to Amazon and hand pick products from as many different brands as possible. At least I used to do it like that.

Last week I also run into Amasuites and purchased their software and that pulls the top 100 products from different categories like "best rated", "new and popular" and a couple of others, same like the poster above explained.

Is it necessary that if you hit top 100 products you will earn a few bucks? Can you shed further light on your success or how you approach and earn?

Selecting top 100 products doesn't automatically earn you a few bucks.

I build Amazon sites around 1 main keyword, like one out of the best list that I posted here.

Then I write about 10-15 reviews, and 5-10 informative articles, about / contact / disclaimer page, a top 10 best list and a comparison page.

Once that's done I start up a link buildiing where I spread about 60 high PR blog posts over the whole site with a great anchor diversity, most links will be pointed at the homepage / category page and the top 10 page.

This always results in a site making in the range of $100-$600/month affiliate income.

In addition to the best keyword, I optimize the posts for "Brand + product" and the category is optimized for "Product + review(s)", that way there is plenty of search volume to make up for the expected income.

Obviously you use your own Private network but 60 high PR Links is an expensive initial outlay for an Amazon site for the majority of us.

After the initial links do you need to add more to maintain rankings?

                        Expensive is a relative thing.

I always make half of the links permanent (to make it more expensive ), so mostly I don't need additional links to maintain the rankings.

But the thing is that if you build a solid site that you can easily make 300 bucks/month from it. Is it so bad to invest $600,- to make $300/month?

                        I don't think so.

If you can't deal with competiton for "best / review" type of keywords you can better find a different hobby / job.

I might try renting some high pr permanent links and buy the rest and see what sort of results I get...if I end up bankrupt I'll be down to Pattaya to sort you out...

Just make sure you avoid the networks that offer x perm homepage links for $x/month on sites with like 40 OBL.

The thing about those networks is that if you rent like let's say 20 links, that you share the domains with 40 other people, and that repeats on each domain. This leaves huge footprints that automatically get detected by Google.

No guess work, just plain facts based on what I've seen on link profiles from clients over the past years. Numerous times that I run into issue's and checked their back link profile and saw that there once were a ton of homepage links, however when I visited the sites they all show a parked page or similar.

Not to pitch, but on my networks I also use a mix of roll off blog posts and permanent links, and I have a lot of clients coming and going due to my one time packages so my sites have a huge diversity of sites that they link to and thus it leaves no footprints that can get detected automatically by an algorithm. The only footprint is that it links out ot 100's of different niches but that's not a sin on itself.

Yes it are just simple sites that review a dozen or so products in the same niche in combination with a top 10 page and a comparison page and some informative articles just to fill it up (and to have some non monetized content tricking Google into thinking the site has something real to offer).

Now this might actually sound bad for my writers, but honestly I never bother to read what they write, I just check if it reads ok and it always converts well for my standards so I suppose it isn't that bad.

There’s a manual way and an automated way to find the most expensive items on Amazon that also are in high demand.

To do it manually go to Amazon.com and from within the search bar choose a ‘department’ then click into the search bar and click ‘Go’ and let the new page load up.

Then below the search box you’ll see a button labelled ‘best sellers’ (not all departments have this for some reason), click it.

On the right hand side of the screen you’ll see an area that says ‘more to explore in DEPARTMENT NAME’ and below that will be ‘hot new releases’, ‘movers and shakers’ and ‘top rated’.

Click ‘see top 100′ in the ‘top rated’ category.

It will then bring up the most rated products which usually means the most popular ones.

Scroll through looking for high priced products with lots of reviews.

However that’s pretty time consuming and mind numbing and there’s no guarantee you’ll find high priced products with lots of reviews.

    To automate this process….

There is a software package called AmaSuites which can do this.

You can enter a list of criteria such as must be priced over $100 and have 50+ reviews into the software and it returns HUGE lists of products which match.

The software can also provide extra data like keywords people are using on Amazon to search for products, whether those product keywords have low SEO competition, if there are exact match domains available, Google insight data and more.

I originally wrote about this on my blog. I have a couple of posts that list high demand and expensive products.

Unless you are planning to pay for your traffic

What good are any of those tools for finding products if you have no chance to be listed on page one of Google Search

My opinion is find something you like to sell and then check it against the Google search results

Not being able to rank is a waste of time

What I am finding these days is market saturation for keyword research since everyone is using keyword planner as a starting point

When millions of people do this don't you think your competition is doing this also

Keyword Planner is dead because of this

I know just about everyone is brain washed to look at keyword planner first but common sense dictates otherwise

There is much better ways to find niche products and ability to rank on page one of Google without using keyword planner for research

My best advice is to get away from the pack and think of alternate ways to find buyers the answers to this are everywhere if you think out of the box

Or could you just be saying that because you are promoting an alternative to keyword planner in your signature?

Keyword Planner works for getting accurate Google search volumes.

It's also good to get some keyword ideas you didn't think of by analyzing other sites.

Is it a complete solution? No!

It doesn't tell you everything you need to know about keywords and has no information about how easy or difficult it is to rank them.

But it doesn't claim to either so anyone using just keyword planner for their KW research is going to struggle.

Actually I stop using Google Keyword anything when the search data was not matching up years ago

My self and many other SEOers have ranked for very high search volume keywords and the traffic didn't live up to what the Keyword Tool told you

While keywords with almost non existent search volume received tons of traffic

Until today we did not have a method to replace Keyword Planner

All of it can be done free, we want to educate the masses you are being lied too by Google for search data for a reason

          Think about this

          • Google hates SEO people period (Panda, Penguin, Hummingbird are proof invented to drive SEO out)

          • Keyword Planner was designed for Adwords

          • Every SEO Guru and software builder uses Keyword Planner (Lots of Competition)

          • The market is saturated for almost all keywords you find in Keyword Planner (We have proof to show it is)

          • Keyword Planner data is inaccurate

          • Google is stealing converting keywords in Analytics the data is only available in Adwords accounts if your spending money

          • Google is only interested in their own revenue

So do you really think anything Google puts out is in your best interest.

I can go on and on about how any Google Tool is used to gather data to either add to their bottom line or fight SEO

Look at any algorithm update, better yet the recent analytics rape of not showing "YOUR" converting keywords except to adwords buyers who see "YOUR" hard earned keywords instead of you

Here is what Keyword Planner is good for.

Generating keyword lists but its data is bogus

So if you really think the search data is accurate keep using it there is much better information out there that trumps Keyword Planner for free if you know what you are looking for.

Again yes I have a product but we also show you how to get around Keyword Planner for free and see the truth about what is really happening in organic search.

I don't fully agree with you. I just finished writing my next book about keyword research. In that book I show, in detail and step-by-step, how to find golden nuggets with GKP and another (paid) tool. All 3 methods lead me to the same result. 1 golden nugget with low backlinks and low cmpetition and a couple of pages that scores for multiple keywords on the first pages of Google.

It's easy to verify if they are real golden nuggets. When you think you have found one, you hammer it into Google and with SEOtools or SEOmozbar or OpenSiteExlorer you will get all the info from the competing sites. No way to find out by Google that you are searching for these terms as a marketer.

To make this even more fullproof, I suggest that you use GKP with another Google account. And when you do your verification, log out of you rGoogle accounts, or even better, do it on another computer.

But can you use it to find profitable items to send into Amazon for FBA? That's the question...

Identifying a good Amazon product to be an affiliate for, versus finding good FBA products are two very different things. You can be an affiliate for just about anything they sell. For FBA you absolutely need to find a way to source the correct product at the proper price. It is not always simple but it is very feasible.
