Can Someone Please explain what is happening

I am using the new Google Search-based keyword tool.

when I type in the word web hosting I get a keyword "$1 web hosting" with monthly searches of 54,000.

When I carry out more keyword research cannot remember the exact word I get "$1 web hosting" with monthly searches of 35,000 and yet another search for another keyword yields "$1 web hosting" with 440 monthly searches.

Now when I key in "$1 web hosting" in Market samurai it gives me only 29 searches.

Can someone explain to me what exactly is happening cos I am at a loss as to what to do.

This is not only for this keyword but I have found it to be happening for all the other keywords as well.

Thanks

Jackie

First, realize that every keyword research tool is inaccurate, including Google's. They are just estimates.

Second, when you use the Google research tool, the default is a "broad" match. Select the "Exact" phrase match from the dropdown box, and you'll see more accurate results. Also uncheck the "Use synonyms" box.

Lastly, some tools will show you daily searches, while others will show you monthly searches.

Still, the results will be different with each tool no matter what you do. The best you can hope for is to get a general feel of what search activity is, as compared to other keywords. Take it with a grain of salt.

I once got a website to #1 in google for a term that got 3,000 searched per day according to keyword research tools.

That brought in about 4 or 5 visitors per day.

That's how accurate they are at times.
