If you want to promote amazon products you will need a website and for beginners amazon is probably the best to start with - it's a trusted site.
It won't happen over night - it will take time.

You might or might not need a blog, considering what the current definition of "blog" is. But you would need your own web address (I guess that covers both blog and website).

What you need would depend completely on your goals and promotional strategy.

    The Money Part:
Again it all depends on your promotional strategy (which again would be dictated by your strength areas, niche, products and target audience etc.)

But, at the very basic level you would need a hosting plan ($4-$5 a month), a domain name ($10 or less/year - could be more if you buy PR domains), some good money for buying quality articles (yes quality articles do come with hefty price tags) and then there's the advertising budget.

There's no "Must Have" money here - it all depends on your goals and strategies, but usually it works like this - you either buy stuff or you "ideate" and cut costs and still succeed.

So, you should first have clarity on your goals and strategies.

You can P.M me if you need help.

    Thanks.

Hey there, if you are going to give reviews on platforms such as YouTube you won't need a blog Just take a video of yourself giving a review of the product and provide your affiliate link in the description below the video and create an annotation for the video saying something like ''Click here to get started with (provide product name): >>link goes here<<'' - this can be an alternative to blogs. Another thing you can do is use tumblr to create free websites until you set up your own blog as it does require time to set up a decent blog. The reason I suggest you use Tumblr temporarily is because when you blog on a third party website your website would look like “chiarafrancica.tumblr.com”. I would suggest avoiding this path because you don’t have full control of your business.

When you blog on a third party website you don’t own your content because it’s on someone else’s domain. Secondly, lack of customization options which is a downside as you are not able to fully customize the design or functionality of your blog. With most of the free platforms you can’t install custom plugins or change the functionality of the website to perform the way you want to.

I obviously have no idea what your goals are but if you want to get started online set goals and see if there is a program out there which suits your needs. Affiliate marketing is a great way to start as you can use funds to build an online business which scales to a 6 figure income.

Your best bet is to spend some time here reading and using the search button. Also, there is a site called abestweb that is dedicated to affiliate marketing.

Don't fall for anyone wanting you to contact them for a "consultation" if they are here they should help you publicly. Any specific questions you have I would use the search function here and if you still do not get an answer then start a new thread. You will find this to be the best FREE coaching you can get.

Also, if you have the 40 bucks, get a warroom membership, there are tons of free WSO's and ebooks available on all subjects there

Agree with agmccall have a look around the forum and get familiar to affiliate marketing. I could write a 5000 word answer here and still wouldn't cover everything.

But I can give you some points how I would do it:

    1. Hosting and a blog
    2. Get a autoresponder
    3. Built a squeezepage to start with building your email list
    4. start writing valuable seo optimized blog posts or product reviews
    5. make videos for traffic and redirect it to your squeezepage
    6. Built a relationship with your subscribers
    7. Scale and start with paid traffic

I think the biggest thing being missed these days is the ability to rank for any affiliate product if you are going to take the SEO route for getting listings in Google search

Everyone is using the same tools to find niches and try to rank for next to impossible keywords against monster sites

You need to find niches with the lowest competitors

What I mean by this is you need to view who is on page one of Google and check out if you can rank against them PERIOD!

Otherwise you are wasting your time trying to go head to head with monster websites

Biggest mistake being made in SEO these days IMHO

All the rest of the stuff is elementary for affiliate marketing

This is the second post I've seen from you in the last few minutes that is clearly just aimed at getting signature clicks for your alternative keyword tool.

This doesn't answer the OP's question.

There's no need to rank in Google at all. Affiliate marketing is much more than than ranking thin websites in G that 'review' affiliate products.

Sure if you know what you are doing it can and does work but it's not easy for a newcomer who doesn't understand SEO and likely short term at best.

You're always just one Google algorithm update away from being broke if you have all your eggs in that basket.

        To the OP:

You could try and do the 'bum marketing' method of promoting your links without your own site BUT it's a uphill struggle and in 2014 and beyond it's VERY unlikely you will succeed.

You need your own domain / site of some sort whether that's a blog or a landing page or a static site.

Affiliate marketing works best when you build an email list so you can repeatedly expose your audience to your offers through building trust and relationship with them.

You send emails full of value (useful info, tips and advice, cool stuff they might like to check out, news etc) mixed in with marketing emails and promos.

Over time if you do it right they will trust your recommendations and are more likely to buy. If you only promote good products that actually help them they will buy from your links over and over.

So in short - YES YOU NEED YOUR OWN SITE.

If you are serious about affiliate marketing you will need at least a domain name through which to funnel all the traffic you generate. Be it paid traffic or "time consuming" traffic. That way you can test different offers and see what works best.

And if you go the article writing route, if the offer is changed or removed you won't lose all your hard work. You just go in and redirect the traffic to a new offer.

Even if you don't create a blog, you should get a website and some hosting where you can install wordpress. Then you can use wordpress and its plugins to redirect the traffic as needs.

If you have some money to spend think about getting a self hosted conversion optimization platform as cpvlab. It will make your job a whole lot easier and you will be able to measure everything regardless of what type of traffic you generate. Having solid stats is a must in the affiliate game.

There are many approaches to affiliate marketing. One thing to be aware of is spending your money in the right places, and spending your time doing the right things.

I narrowed big success in affiliate marketing down to 5 basic "must have's":

      1) High-Quality Targeted Traffic
      2) Domain and Hosting (their are ways around this - PM me for details)
      3) Lead Capture Page
      4) Auto-Responder
      5) High-Converting Product or Offer

If you have these things in place, you can start seeing results with affiliate marketing. At this point in time, I wouldn't bother with a blog unless you want to take the free and slow road to China. Hope this helps.

    szaby,

I would highly recommend checking out some of the WSO's by a guy named Mark Tandan. He has several dedicated to brand new affiliate marketers and they are all outstanding. I think you find everything you need to get started there.

As you go along, you will find what tools you need and what tools don't help you move close to your goals.

Having a blog is a good idea. If you can build a blog with some good contents and build your audience that would be your virtual asset for many years to come.
