Hi people

My names Dale, i'm quite new to IM i have been looking into it for about a month or so, i have fairly decent knowledge of computers etc and have been setting up my own website with IM in mind to make money. I am now up against a problem, as i didn't pay to learn i just done extensive research i have now hit a brick wall.

My site is designed to give ideas for gifts, it is on a wordpress site, i have bought the hosting, domain etc I'm just finishing off my content before i start SEO and other methods for gaining traffic.

My problem is;
Do I only promote ideas through e commerce sites and receive around a 10% commission from each sold. (which i can't see making much money unless i drive insane amounts of traffic as the average product is about £50)
Or do i use my ideas and find drop shippers to sell them. (Would this mean me recreating my whole site to accommodate e commerce sales so i can gain more than 10%)

Any feedback is appreciated.

Cheers

edit; i am aware i will be making money from affiliate sales of digital items advertised on my site as well, and possibly from a mailing list yet i am intrigued to know the best way to go about selling a physical product with good conversion rates and prices.

    One Question -- How much "more" net profits would you be earning per sale by finding drop shippers and establishing your own ecommerce sites, compared to the average £5 commissions per sale (as "gross revenues" I assume and not net profits) that you could get from promoting related products via other established ecommerce sites?

      Hey!
      Correct me if I'm wrong, but if I am understanding this correctly you want to make commisions on physical products that are sold through the ads on your site right?

      If so you can always sign up with Amazon Associates.. Lots of great gifts you can promote from there. Just Google Amazon Associates and you'll find it

    Affiliate selling vs dropshipping is a completely different method of action. It might be time to research both elements and then decided. If you become a war room member you'll save some money and get tons of great advice on both methods of making money online.

    Also ; since you are hoping to sell gifts you will want high priced gifts for either method you use in order to make a good profit.

    Best of luck!

      Two things to consider here:

      1. Don't go after the money. Do what you love and can do long term. The money will follow.

      2. Drop shipping or physical product selling - both can make you money - the only issue is traffic. So, always have a marketing plan in place before you get to the "product" part.

    Hey everyone thanks for all your responses. Basically this is my first "make money online venture" i have done endless research and compiled a lot of information that i am going to use on my site. to begin, my site is a gift ideas website and i have a couple of great ways to get targeted traffic. i don't think i explained clearly enough before but at the minute what i was looking to do was to list a product (as an idea in my articles), which when clicked takes them to a site to buy the product, i am in the process of finding the websites that let me do this, i have gone off the drop shipping idea it all seems like more hassle. A new problem i face is that i have signed up for paid on results, but when i sign up to be an affiliate it only gives me banners for my site etc not actually specific links to products. the only way i can think of doing it right now being new to this is to troll the internet for hours looking for gift sites that offer affiliate links to a certain product that i want. Would be great to speak to someone one on one so i can gain some guidance at this point. Most of my content is finished, i have just got to fiddle with the aesthetics a bit, add my product links and pictures in, do all of my seo and start a mailing list but before i can do all that i want to have all of my content sorted completely with the pictures and links in. Could someone please explain the difference between these affiliate sites which you sign up for and it shows you loads of merchants however its not for specific products its actually just a link to their website. And the sites which can offer you a link for specific products, do these types of affiliates have a different name?
