Affiliate link question

If I give someone my affiliate link in email and its formated like this: www.testing1239.com/?a=23456 (example only)

When I click the link it goes where it is supposed to but in the top address bar it only shows website.com without having my affiliate part at the end.

Is this normal and I would still be getting credit but somehow the affiliate part just goes away?

It's possible that when people click your affiliate link it registers in your affiliates system and then redirects the lead to the current website.

Contact your affiliate and ask them if that's how their system is setup.

Ok, I have seen this before so I pretty sure its standard but just didn't know why sometimes it goes away and on others it stays in the address bar.

It is normal ,affiliate id is hidden values in some urls so you don't have worry about it .

If you are still in doubt ,check your affiliate tracking stats and you will found it easily your affilaite code is working properly or not

Well on this particular one I would have no way to track as far as I know. I would know when someone signs up but not how many clicks, etc.

Very normal and look for affiliate links set up that way as it doesn't look very neat when you have all that in a URL ... better conversions

This is normal, you should keep an eye on your stats though, make sure nothin is amiss, because technical problems do occur.

You should mask your links- pretty link lite is a good option (if you have wordpress) it helps you brand your link, and works as a simple click tracking system.

Others here had good advice about masking the link.

I just buy new domain names and have them forwarded with masking to my affiliate links.

Makes it easier to give out your link.

This is a good idea I have used in the past also. But if I did that and got a good domain name I would just want to put up a website promoting the affiliate product.

I've seen this before, and i've experienced it when i was an affiliate for a penis enlargement package. I say it's better than having that "hop?=clickbank" in the address bar.

If you have a WordPress site you can install Pretty Link and you can also log the clicks on the link. looks much better than long affiliate links.

From what I understand they do that for a lot of sites nowadays, that way the customer won't be jaded and the likelihood that they will purchase increases.

Yes, that is fairly normal and I would guess that you would still receive credit.

In my opinion you shouldn't be using those links with your id in them anyway.

You should use a link cloaker so that your links wont be click jacked or someone else will put their aff id in place of yours. There is really no reason to have your affiliate id in your links at all. There are a lot of link cloakers out there so be sure to get one that is reputable and proven.

This is a standard practice that has it's purpose. Check your stats and you will more than likely notice that you have been credited with the clicks, therefor you will be credited with the leads, sales, etc.

Unfortunately with this particular offer stats cannot be tracked only tracked from when the link is clicked on my website but not the other end. I will only know if they sign up.

I confirmed that with the affiliate and they confirmed that I would get credit and it is not supposed to show my link in address bar after the click as others have posted above.

I think its better that way because you probably don't want your buyers to know that the same product is available on some other website from some other affiliate.

But then, check your stats to see if you are getting the credit for clicks.
