Gmail just like Pinterest - What do you think?

Just saw this post over at GetResponse

Not sure what I think about it. As a female end user it looks fun. As an email marketer I'm thinking "ughhh, now I have to find an interesting image to go out with each email I send."

What are your thoughts/1st impressions?

    Yes, that example didn't do a good job of showing what happens to text emails.

    All the emails were nicely designed to show off the new Google layout. I would like to see what bad images or no images look like in this view.

    If your users have this view set to default and it kills plain text messages then, as you say, you will need an enticing image for each email.

    Yeah most emails don`t have pictures so this won`t work for me and I wouldn`t use it

      Yeah, the more I look at it the less I think it will work well as shown. Maybe I'm not seeing something.

      I get that email can be very social. Or a "fun shopping experience" promotional. But there's also a need for a more... "text based professionalism".

      I wonder what got them thinking... "this is the perfect layout for promotional emails". Seems a bit odd considering the diverse types of conversations that happen under the category "promotional".
