Can someone explain this to me in simple terms please.

When commenting on a blog, what the purpose of putting "yourname@ yourwebsite" in the name field?

What does this achieve as far as optimizing your a link to your website?

    I can't say whether it has an SEO advantage (I'd doubt that), but it does improve clickability. A browsing visitor may look past a user called 'Mandy', even if their name is hyperlinked; but if their name is 'Mandy @ The Beer Lover', then it makes it clearer that the name can be clicked. A great way to get the traffic to your website rolling, btw.
