I just went to bald.com for the hell of it

Hi Troopers

Sometimes, I check out one word urls just to see what is going on over there, and often it will just be a parked site or a really cr4ppy adsense site, and I think why on earth don't they do something decent with it and make 10X the amount of money?

Check this Bald.com

This one's not much better: Fishing | Fishing Information On Bass, Trout, Salmon and Carp and More | Fishing.com

Anybody know any other classics?

Cheers
Phil

Because they are just parked and listed for sale where they can potentially make many thousands of dollars for the domain.

These one word domains are fun to dream about, but likely far out of reach of mere mortal marketer. Still, they give us hope.

Would it be possible to get the same results if it weren't a .com domain, such as .me or .us?

Yeah, what a domain. I just tried to look up what fishing.com might have sold for the last time it was sold and only found fish.com, which sold for a bit over $1M.

Not even close. The .net and the .org will sometimes get a good price, but still nothing like the .com. Forget about .us and .me. Rarely sell for a real high price.
