Unused domain with a lot of hits. What should I use it for?

Hey Guys!

Basically I checked logs for a domain I never used and it gets a lot of traffic lately.
What are some suggestions of usage?
Also, please don't suggest domain parking!

Thank you!

    "Hits" are misleading.

You should find out the number of unique Visitors that are coming to the domain.

I would then setup analytics to find out where they are coming from.

This would hopefully give me insight into what type of traffic it is and what they are searching for exactly.

Once you know the type of traffic, you can then find a product and promote to that traffic.

Ex: If they are coming from ILoveDogs.com, then you can find a product related to that topic and then forward your domain to the website's sales/squeeze page.

So here is a Basic Flow:

    Traffic > YourDomain.com > Redirect > Niche Sales Page

But you can only do this once you discover the TYPE of traffic that is coming using an analytics program.

I would suggest Google Analytics, It is a decent tool.

(Not to mention, Its 100% Free)

    Hope that helps

    1) Your visitors aren't bots, are they?

    2) If they aren't bots, find out where they are coming from and maybe you'll find out what they are looking for

Thank you guys for the quick replies!

I know what countries they are from and obviously the niche.

My question was just aimed towards how to convert them in a proper fashion since I never dove into parked traffic.

I was considering your advice as well Deon! Seems like that would be the best way to go about this. I thought about just direct linking, but like all traffic methods, squeeze pages should always be used.

And NO Adrian, They aren't bots

Then it depends on how much time and how many resources you want to allocate to this prospective business.

No time? Then parked domain. Or sell it. Or redirect the visitors to a proper affiliate page.

More time? Squeeze page then affiliate page.

Even more time? Write a book to solve their problem, etc.

      Etc.

      It depends on you

If you know you got legit traffic, why not give them what they want. Maybe you are still ranking for some keywords and people coming to your site are using them? Set it up into a site and see if that brings you some money. If its in a high demand niche, you could also set up an adsense site.

what does parking your domain accomplish?
also when using google analytics do you have to list the exact web address? I have a website i setup with analytics but it's through a subfolder.example www.xxx.com/xxx . and through google analytics It's listed as just the domain name.example www.xxx.com is it going to track anything? or do i have to set it up on the analytics to the subfolder?
