Will my English accent be a problem for creating a video product for making money online.

Hello people,

i have a really important question, please try to help?
i have been trying to make some money online for the last two & a half years
and finally i did make some after i invested a lot of time and hard work. the money i have made till now is not much but as a start its keeping me smiling.

I have a lot of information and i really like to help people who were like me, i know i can save a lot of time and money for a lot of people who just started so i was thinking to make a video course showing some beginners how to genuinely make some cash online that they can invest later on a bigger project and make a real business online.

The problem is
English is not my first language and my accent could not be clear for some people and the market in my country is not profitable so i can't do it in my mother language.

what do you think about it please? will a video course hits good on the market if it was really genuine and could really help beginners even if the accent was different for some people.

If you will say to me, ask someone on fiverr to make you a video, i can't!
while everything i will say will come straight from my mouth, i'm not a salesman but i really have a big value in my videos while i explain everything i have done to make some quick cash online by providing genuine service to your customers or website viewers.

i would really appreciate your honesty in answering my question.

    That won't be a problem, you just have to make sure of 2 things:
    - Make sure everybody can understand your English (which shouldn't be a problem when i read your post).
    - Make sure you offer value in your videos.

    If you combine those two things you'll have no problem creating a product you can sell here on the forum or on your website.

    Make sure everybody can understand your English
    This is the most important part I think. No matter in which accent you speak, as long as they are understandable, it will work.

    I would say just go ahead and create the video. Don't let fear stop you from doing the things that you want to do. If the English is clear, I do not forsee any difficulty in understanding the content of the video

    Honestly Jordan, judging by your post your language skills are really good so if you show in your video's you are really confident and assured! and offering good quality content then it shouldn't be a problem.

    If you do want to make the movies yourself, I find that people with accents keep the crowd more interested than those with dull american accent. But if you want to be safe, hiring someone to do your movies could also be a great way to go.

    Of course it isn't a problem.

    Just make sure you speak clearly and not too fast. If you're from Liverpool then you may need to slow down even more (haha). But seriously, it's not a problem unless the accent is really obscure.

    If you have something of value that may help people make money online, just make sure you can be understood.. Judging from your original post, you should be alright.
    At the end of the day, money speaks all languages and some people who are native speakers may see your accent as motivation to get off their asses and maybe buy from you.
    Kind of like "if I can do it, you can too" type of deal..

    Always look for an advantage, even in your disadvantages..

    honestly i never buy anything from people with non-USA accents because it's hard to understand them, and there's so many choices why not learn from people you can understand. I'll hire a native-language speaker spokesperson if i am ever in that situation. just as if, for example I wanted to sell in mexico I would hire native speaker to make videos for me. the world is extremely competitive and speaking skills that are relatable are essential

      As long as what you are saying is clear, an accent is not a problem. Even among native English speakers, you can have problems with accents. Don't believe me? Listen to someone from back bay Boston or coastal Alabama.

      One tip - don't hide the fact that English is not your milk language. Announce it once in the beginning of the video, and then forget about it. As long as people can understand you, they'll forget it, too.

    Go for it for sure! What can happen that people don't like your videos? You have to go over that because when you provide great information, information people need then they will listen to you.

    You can also add transcriptions from your videos that people can read the content if they want.

    I'm also not a native speaker but I made close to 200 videos for my YT channel and I never had even one complaint about my accent. So again! GO FOR IT!

      Your accent shouldn't matter as long as you can easily be understood. Australians successfully sell video infoproducts, Irishmen successfully sell video infoproducts, Texans successfully sell video infoproducts. Three dialects that are more different than many foreign accents.

      As Marcus Moeschter pointed out, including transcripts will reduce the possibility of language issues even further. If there should be real problems arising from your accent, you can hire a native speaker who dubs your videos.

      And a real problem only arises if there is a substantial part of prospects not buying because of the language. Given the size of the English speaking market such a problem is highly unlikely.

      Surely, there will be some people who won't buy because of the accent. If your information is really valuable this doesn't count for you. If at all, it counts for those who miss out on what you could have given them!

    There are a lot of people who don't speak English very well and still do videos on YouTube.

    If you are not comfortable with doing these videos, I would just use paid ads.

    I say go with it, because your english will soon become perfect if you make videos with voiceover.

    I am also European and it actually works in my favor because people just can't figure out where I am from so they continue listening to try and figure out my accent An English accent can be appealing so use it in your favor, just be sure to be clear and avoid slang ... you'll be fine

      English is my first language, and I still feel quite self-conscious when talking and recording myself.

      I dislike the sound of my own voice in any recording - video or voicemail.

      Here's the thing... I just DO it, in the knowledge that what I hear is likely rather different from what someone else will hear.

      It's easy to be subjective about one's own voice

      On the other hand, there are many people who love the sound of their own voice... and we love them don't we!?

    Use a lot of visuals. Google drive has a free presentation function. Just put the main points up there or use a flip chart behind you. This will help prevent any misunderstandings.

    Sorry to say so, yes it will be a problem.

    Look at it from another angle, if you wanted to buy something – and the seller was speaking in a accent which you could not comprehend – would you buy?

    I would definitelly take notes from a well structured video that gives me the information I need, regardless of the accent of the speaker. If you still have doubts, use written texts along with your presentation, so people can at least read the things they do not understand, if any.

    You do not have to write everything down, just the main points of focus. This also makes for a very well structured presentation.

    When Arnold Schwarzenegger went to his first acting auditions he got sent away because of his strange accent. In his first movies another person had to speak for him. Today his German/Austrian accent makes you recognize instantly who is talking. The accent became a useful feature for him in terms of branding. You see, an accent does not always has to be something negative.

    I think that it's only a problem when you are hard to understand (or when you try to sell accent removal classes).
