Just got scammed on Sedo. What is the BEST place to sell a domain?

Being new to "domaining" I was giddy as a school girl when some guy from Switzerland offered me $5,000 for my domain, but sadly, it was a scam. You live and you learn right? I paid for the appraisal and all that nonsense, but now I know that if I ever get contacted by someone like that again; It's a scam. That's how I look at it. They can't still take money out of my bank account right?

I really want to email the guy back and curse him out, but I might get hacked, lol.

That being said, what is the best place to list my domain for sale? Seems to be a lot of scammers on Sedo. Should I just list it on Godaddy? Thank you so much.

      GarrieWilson,

Sorry, that's not correct. Use Escrow to sell your domains.

The seller can open up escrow(com) and still not get paid after paying for the appraisal.

Yes it is. He was fell for the "get an appraisal" scam. Which has nothing to do w/ using escrow for payment.

You can cut down on the scams with 1) NEVER get a paid appraisal as a condition of the sale..it is a scam 2) ALWAYS ask anyone to contact you on their company email, never one of the FREE ones.

Sounds like you fell for the domain appraisal scam that's been going around for a million years. Don't know what that has to do with Sedo though. I've sold numerous domains on Sedo and it went very smooth. The broker for Sedo is the go between and they take the money and they take the domain and handle the transaction, so it's about like using an escrow service.

Another scam to watch out for is the old ' Your domain is perfect for a project we are working on but we are but poor students so can we have it cheap' ploy.

Also if anybody asks for a domain appraisal tell them to pay for it and you will deduct the appraisal fee from the selling price if they buy it.

Unfortunately, that's the oldest trick in the book.
Go ahead and curse him out, they won't hack.
At any rate, live and learn.
