So I have been trying to set up my own business online, and eventually I would like to have a store selling videos, software, and ebooks, but for right now I just have a clickbank storefront. So my strategy for marketing my storefront is to set up a squidoo lens with a couple of articles about making money online and then having my website's url up in several places for them to click if they are interested. I then plan to send traffic to the squidoo lens, but I can't find a good merchant to buy from. any suggestions? I am thinking about DNTX. Are they any good?

If you are going to spend money on traffic why bother with the squidoo lens? People would be more likely to buy if they go straight to your site. I would still set up multiple web 2.0's to try for some organic but I would send paid traffic straight to the site.

Set up a squeeze page offering a freebie and drive traffic to it. Promote your site in your follow-up emails.

DO NOT use Squidoo anymore as a main source of driving traffic. For the past year, they've been doing a huge "cleanup" where they've deleted tons of lens. Even worse, the post on there no longer seem to be doing well in terms of Google rankings anymore.

I agree with this point of view. Squidoo is a waste of time and they lock lenses for no reason.

They also hate internet marketing; it's not a good topic for them.

Like Brent said I would also concentrate on building a list. That should be your main focus. You can get traffic to your squeeze page through Video marketing, social marketing (setup a fanpage) and forum marketing for example!

Squidoo are not too keen on lots of links anymore.

Definitely paid traffic should go straight to your own site.

Use other sites to increase your visibility and gain 'free' traffic to your site. Offer a free gift to build your list too. Make sure you have some analytics installed so you know where your traffic is coming from so you can be more effecient with your traffic generation.

I would send it straight to my site, but the problem is is that it is a storefront, so there is not a lot of content besides the products themselves. That is why I have the squidoo lens, as kind of an introduction to online marketing and to tell the visitors about my site. what else could I do?

Then why not put the content you were going to put on Squidoo on your site?

I would prefer to do that but the storefront is preconfigured so I can't add a lot of content. I'm thinking of getting a squeezepage for it. However, that doesn't solve my other problem, which is where to buy traffic from?

It sounds to me like you need a blog. Post your content on your blog, wether its a subdomain/subdirectory or a totally new website. Then link to your storefront.

Squidoo lenses are going to absolutely nothing for you.

I recieved a pm from someone, can't remember the name, but I accidently deleted it before replying. anyways pmer said that I needed to focus on listbuilding and forget the storefront. However, I am hesitant to abandon the storefront because when I have enough capital to be able to sell my own products on my own store I would like to have already established a presence. Due to that fact, could I maybe use both methods together? Have a squeeze page where I collect email's and then send informative email's to my subscribers with a link to my storefront rather than just a link to an individual product? would that work? or does that sound crazy?

You don't have to abandon your storefront. If your store is self hosted, whether free or paid, you can simply add to it through cpanel. A squeeze page or wordpress can be set up in a separate folder.

If you decide to set up a squeeze page you could call the new folder "SpecialOffer" or something relevant then set up the html page inside that folder. Then send the traffic to yourdomainname.com/SpecialOffer That would build your list. You could do the same with wordpress.

If you set up a wordpress blog on your site your could name the new folder "blog" and then create a link on your storefront that goes to yourdomainname.com/blog and also set up a link on your blog that goes to yourdomainname.com so that they both link together.

      Hope this helps.

Well I would begin with "please" and end with "thank you".

Unless you have a specific target market, your chances are minimal. Assuming you do have a target maret... where do those people spend their time online? Which websites, blogs, forums etc? They are your potential sources of traffic, but I would suggest you spend some time developing a (helpful) presence in those places first; rarely do people invest in someone unknown.

Instead of a Squidoo lense use a squeeze page! This way you can sell again and again.

As far as traffic ideas make Youtube review videos and point to your squeeze page and have a different squeeze for each product. Obviously there's more to ranking the video but that's traffic you really don't have to buy.

As others have said I'd prefer a squeezepage linked to your autoresponder. I would build a list by using solo ads. Good solo sellers lists will usually make a couple of early sales to cover the cost of your purchase, but then you have a contact to sell to again.

Why not solo ads and forum signatures?
