Promoting an Amazon Affiliate Store - What Else Besides Articles/Content for Promotion?

I currently have 10 Amazon affiliate stores setup in different niches, I went in and wrote 3 500 word articles for each site and plan on adding more articles every few days to slowly build up the content.

Each store has ~250-1000 products, I am using the Prosociate plugin with WooCommerce to help with the layouts, checkout, etc.

Besides the basics, and adding more content, what are some amazon-affiliate specific ways to drive more traffic to my web stores?

By using automation, you are pretty much stuck with SEO and articles. Because the site offers no real value to the visitor that Amazon doesn't already offer, you can't really rely on any type of social media or viral traffic.

Now, on the other hand, if you created a site that offers value and is sort of a "destination site", you could promote via Facebook and expect a good return.

Its statements like these that I just know better to answer... because you don't know better, and in truth I really don't want you to, but its your lucky day!

I have a pure affiliate site, 4600 products. over 6000 pages indexed on Google. Because I have "No Value" you are suggesting there is no money? Are you kidding?

When you are affiliate marketing beyond the product here and there and step up to the volume side of it, it no longer is about value. It is about getting YOUR affiliate cookie, into any and every browser you can! Its about doing the sort of advertising that you are targeting the people that are just about there to make that decision to buy.

By all means use Twitter... use Facebook ( I spend $15 a day on facebook and make about $200 or so A DAY on 7% commission ) not a bad return on investment considering there is "no value" there.

There is so much more to the buying experience than just the information. I have RETURN customers that use my site because it is easier to navigate and find product, than the site I am affiliated to. I targeted my sites design and color to meet the demographic. I display the information in a more cohesive easy to read design.

One of the best tools you have is tying in your Twitter and Facebook accounts to your blog posts. ( Great for SEO ) Build COMMUNITY away from your site, your site is a tool that sells, not a destination! Ill say that again... Your site is a tool that sells, not a destination!

Its my "Circle Theory" you build a affiliate super site. You connect that site to a twitter and facebook account. You start posting on your store site, the posts go to each of the 2 social media spots. You use the Social media as the point of contact with your people. You then point the following back to the store to buy.

      Hope that Helps!

I want to spend some money on FB ads, but my concern is that with my little experience I will be just wasting money away. I have read several WSO's and articles that talk about how to effectively promote your site through FB ads but I am just learly I suppose to spend any money without a guaranteed return.

This is a serious, serious roadblock to success. Stop being afraid to fail. you are launching a business. Chances are good that you ARE going to fail sometimes. It's a foregone conclusion.

Unless you are going to go hungry or miss your mortgage payment because you spent $500 testing/experimenting, go out and "just do it", to quote Nike.

I am going to see if I can find some cheap vouchers to start with, do some testing, and see how that goes. I am off to go write more articles today, I will update along the way.

          Josh,

$5 a day is a risk? I ran 3 day increments unless it was just plain failing. I spent a total of $75 in A / B testing. And then immediately after kicked it up to $15 a day and have not looked back! Do CPC advertising use a red or yellow border and go for it! If that is truly a risk PM me and Ill send you $20.00 to get started!

          Hope that Helps!

I didn't say "no value". I said no value that Amazon doesn't already provide. Please re-read my original statement (that you quoted).

Oh I read your post correctly... I didn't clarify in my post...I only have 3 posts on that site! The truth is 99% of the information on that site is DUPLICATE.

Its not about the information on your site when the customers get there. Its about where in the purchase process they are when they get there. When someone is ready to buy and have a good price in front of them they bite!

My site is no even a niche, its very main stream, and that I believe makes a difference... people with my products are looking,a nd I am simply delivering!

how fast can you say de-index? Ok, all sites may not get indexed, but I have about 20 sites, and more then half have been deindexed from 20k pages down to something like 1k-2k pages. I have one site that has 60k products, but only 500 or so indexed pages, after 3 months, still no pennies....

I want to spend some money on FB ads, but my concern is that with my little experience I will be just wasting money away. I have read several WSO's and articles that talk about how to effectively promote your site through FB ads but I am just learly I suppose to spend any money without a guaranteed return.
every good reason to be afraid, you can invest, spend, invest more, and still get no where; I have spent $2k, and I have hardly made a fraction of that back, so you have good reason to fear, but if you dont try...

Now that I have spent way to much money, and learned a few things
along the way, now I will have to re-do all of my sites, but they all
will not be redone at the same time. I am telling you now; work one
site at a time! You will save tons of money, and your sanity too...dont be so egar and in a rush to setup 5,10,20 sites that will simply go no where. When you learn from that one site, and start earning $25/mo then maybe you
are ready to setup 2 or 3 more because you are learning as you go....

95% of my sites are fail, the other 5% may have gotten a little lucky
while google booted my other sites; So I am making just enough to
cover my VPS, and yearly renewals on about 20 domains, and
30 more not even in-use...take it from someone that has learned
the lessons the hard way; You can make money, but it will take time...
It does not matter how fast you work or how desperate you want
to make money, google will let you make money when they feel
you deserve to make money by setting up quality sites, not before...

I learned a few things over the months, but it come with
a high price tag, now I am starting over once again....

take my advice, you wont regret it....

PS. Like everyone else, I imported duplicate content also...DONT!
I have been using a mix of some dup, unique, curated content over
the last month, and that is probably what has saved my remaining
sites from going completely in the toilet...You will not be penalized for
having duplicate content, but google may decide over all that your
url/content is not worth having, crap, or other, and de-index it....

You are better off having a budget, lets face it, this isnt the 90s any
more, you are competing with 1000's of other affiliates having millions
of other product pages; You really cant start on a shoestring budget
like you could a few years back; its not impossible, only if you want
to wait 3-5 years longer to get in the game; You have to get out
there, and you have to be seen, otherwise no-one will come....

The post above mine was spot on about YouTube, web20, sorry to say, but
that is yet more investment; I just paid $5 on fiveer to have my first video
done but this hot product reviewer, she reminds me of that Latino women
that plays on modern family...Its going to be a hot video, and that is how
your use serps to your advantage, upload that baby to youtube linking back
to your site, and if you have extra spammy links to build then send them to
that youtube video, and your serps will increase...now I am going to take
that Hot Latino video and place on my blog that fits the content, then
I am going to add more content, couple images, and boom, I have
a quality post, not only will that post get a boost in the serps, my overall
site will also because it is part of my site, of course $5 this, and $5
that can add up, but as another member said, its part of business....
It is your invest that it will pay off in the future as your site grows, and
I assure, it will not grow from $0 to $500/mo in 30 minutes or less....

But that video was just a last min thing, I never tried it, I never got one,
I should have it in a few days, but I still have to re-organized my entire
network, which is going to take time, and I am not even going to lie, it
may take months to re-organize and simply because I should have never
ever started off with so many damn sites and so much frustration that
I almost wanted to quick and I seen most of it going no where.

This time I am starting from the ground up just on one blank domain using
another plugin (current one is a big time failure) and I will do one store
at a time, and I am not going to worry about the other 19 sites because
you cant, you have to be successful at one before you can be a success
at a few or a few more; Everything is planned, and I am ready to take action.
and with what I have learned; I expect this site to over-take 19 other stores...

and this comment goes to the person that says he put x amount of articles on his
site; If you just randomly posted articles with no keyword research, then you have
already failed. You cant just post an article, and that is it. You have to do
keyword research, and place those keywords in your articles in order to get
traffic, otherwise, you may end up getting low organic traffic, maybe with 0 sales.
Maybe you have done your keyword research, dunno, I do not think you said....
so if you are selling "best solar flares" what-ever the hell that is, then you need
to need to find long tail keywords concerning "best solar flares" ie: best solar flares
in the world, best solar flares on the planet, best solar flares in the US, and so on...
and you will not even know the value to these until you do the keyword research.....

I hope someone tells me they learned something from
this; Because this really took me a while to write

If you would care to offer tips, then I would listen to what you have
to say; I have never used FB, but I wouldnt be afraid to go If I
had some direction I was going in. I have used adwords a few
years back on nothing related to amazon, and lost a lot....

You can create "how to" or " 5 tips" videos and market them on Youtube, then send your viewers to your Amazon site.

For example, create a video that informs the viewer how to use a pottery wheel, then have a link to your site that sells pottery clay on your Amazon page. And/or create a video with "6 Essential Tips for Buying a Pottery Wheel", then link to the highest rated pottery wheels on your Amazon page.

If you have a good site, apply for the Ebay Partner Network. I like mixing Ebay and Amazon on the same pages because you can be pretty sure you are giving your people a choice of good deals.

Thank you for the reply. I have 0 experience with video marketing but this does sound like a good way to generate traffic. Some of my products are in the "natural/organic" category and people seem to go nuts over that stuff.

Right now I only have Amazon but I may consider adding the eBay listings in the future. Thansk!

Consider building a list of your buyers, especially for this category. Once you have established affinity and credibility through demonstrated competence in the recognized and controversial issues surrounding this topic, your customer base will buy from you again and again. But it will take some aggressive email promotional and marketing tactics to keep their attention away from typically heavy competition.

You can advertise a product you sell on Amazon by placing an ad elsewhere with a link to your page that carries the product. Same way you would advertise something for sale. If you place free ads, the targeted traffic that you get by people clicking on your link may become 100% pure profit.

Thanks for the reply, I am looking into how to noindex the shop pages. I am adding content daily, some are product specific articles, some are general articles related to my niche, my hope is these get ranked and start to index.

Just wrote 5 review articles, all 250-400 words each, for the best-selling products on my affilaite website in the pet niche. Going to work on this one for a bit and then go on to my others.

How many affiliate stores should I get going? I have 3 active now, domains for 3 more, and money to spend on domains. I was thinking 10 sites with 10 articles each, 10 review articles each, and then do 2-3 videos reviews per site.

Each site is a different niche, 250-1000 products each.

How many affiliate stores should I get going? I have 3 active now, domains for 3 more, and money to spend on domains. I was thinking 10 sites with 10 articles each, 10 review articles each, and then do 2-3 videos reviews per site.

Each site is a different niche, 250-1000 products each.
Are you talking a Blog? That sounds good but you need to post new content 2-3 times a week on each site min. it is best to post every day to really get it going. Need to stay consistent on that as for how many it will depend on how much time you want to put in and how much money you want to make, I think I would just stick with what you have right now and be consistent and see what you start getting. Did you do your research on the market and keywords?

Honestly I would focus on ONE!!! get it going develop the methodsto making it work. once it is kinda on auto pilot THEN introduce the next and the next.

You want you articles at a minimum of 500 words. I have been playing with a concept of piggy backing content. meaning 2 articles on the same subject, with a main keyword. Publish one, one day and then right behind it so they are stacked in your blog publish the next 2 days later. Seems to be very effective at stabilizing your page rank position once they both indexed and ranked.

And then immediately after kicked it up to $15 a day and have not looked back! Do CPC advertising use a red or yellow border and go for it! If that is truly a risk PM me and Ill send you $20.00 to get started!

        Hope that Helps!
Thanks for the reply, I do have money to spend I just want to make sure I am spending it wisely.

The content based articles are going to be 500-700 words, the short review articles are 200-300 words currently which I read was a good length for simple reviews but I may consider increasing the reviews to more words.

I want to add at least 4-5 500-700 word articles per week, I may write them all myself or outsource some of the work.

        Thanks for the advice!

My personal favorite method of promotion are Youtube videos. I would suggest picking the best products or best selling products from your website and making some videos about them. You can get Camstudio for free and make some short powerpoint or screen capture style videos about each product. You can also get a lot of info from the sales page to make ppt slides with the features, benefits & even testimonials for each product.

Then create a youtube channel that goes along with your website and start uploading the videos. You can then embed the videos on your website pages at the bottom of each post. This will help both the SEO for your website & your Youtube vids.

For even extra SEO benefit you can create a number of web 2.0 blogs and create blog posts for some of the products from your main website and also embed your Youtube videos on those sites. You can then link to your main website or direct link to the affiliate products or both.

You can get web 2.0 blogs created on fiverr. Just search on Fiverr for "account creation" or "web 2.0 account creation"

There is also a gig on Fiverr that create the accounts that are on Onlywire & SocialADR. Search for "Onlywire Account Creation" I think that gig required a gig extra to get everything done. But well worth it. To get the most benefit from Onlywire you'll need to get a paid account. But you can get started with the free account.
