Permanently Banned from My Hosting. NEED NEW ONE!

This is NOT what I need right now. I've been permanently banned from my host provider (IXWebhosting) after continue to get CPU resource overload.

I have never done anything but just hosting WordPress sites on there and leave them alone, but it's continue to be a problem.

Apparently, IXWebhosting doesn't have that much strong of resources, and now I need a new webhost.

Any recommendation that has a strong CPU resource tolerance and won't have this problem?

I was thinking about between HostGator and BlueHost, but don't have experience with them, and need some expertise input asap. Thanks.

Between the two I'd say HostGator based on their customer support.

Besides the customer support, in terms of performance and better CPU resource tolerance, which one?

Agreed. I've never seen a WP website run that fast. You would think they were HTML pages.

If you're running into CPU problems, check out their list of Banned plugins. They consistently caused them problems with CPU so they prohibit them on their servers.

Perhaps the best idea would be to find out why your site is using abnormal CPU usage? Chances are, you're going to run into the same issue.

I've been shut down for CPU usage on HostGator before (on several occasions), so if you have a heavy site I would avoid the shared hosting.

Also keep in mind that during the time my websites were VERY resource heavy and were laden with excess code/scripts.

One more thing - if your site is making money, get better hosting.

    Just my random thoughts.

Only good thing about IXWebhosting is their affiliate program which pays out top $$. But that's not necessarily a good thing in the big picture since it attracts affiliate to fill in fake "best hosting" review sites with these top paying affiliate programs which has nothing to do with the quality of the hosting.

I would NOT recommend Hostgator if you're already running into problems. I won't get into why that is on this thread since there are sooo many other threads on HG's problems already.

Veerotech has been very fast and stable for me but you can also look into Mddhost, Arxive, or Site5.

Yes, IX is just as terrible as EIG (Hostgator, Bluehost, etc). If not worse.

Hostgator = Bluehost = same host = both EIG (the real host behind the curtain)

Some EXCELLENT suggestions were made in this thread: Stablehost, MDD, Site5, Arvixe, Veerotech, LiquidWeb, Namecheap. Pick one of those.

As far as CPU use goes, you need to figure out what's causing it. If this is a WordPress site, the culprit is likely a badly-written plugin. That happens, even with popular ones (that should NOT be popular). If it's just huge traffic causing it, congrats, you're too big for shared hosting. You'll need semi-dedicated, a VPS, or dedicated instead. That's a good thing.

I agree with all other points except this one. LiquidWeb and WiredTree both have phone support. I've called them and, while they were on the phone, they SSH'd into my server to resolve issues. Then again, they're not part of the EIG machine.

I've been with http://www.TotalChoiceHosting.com since 2002. They have everything, great support, silent, powerful servers with an average (in my experience) of well over 99% up time. They don't have an affiliate programme but they are the best host I've ever heard of or used. I've heard of people having dramas or suffering silly limitations from all the names people usually through up including gator and blue.

TCH offers a FULL cPanel with everything that some of the other hosts (surprisingly) leave out. Whatever you do stay away from godaddy though.

Check your logs and find out what is causing this. Since you said there is not much traffic on these sites with WordPress it could be something as simple as IPs trying to access XMLRPC.php hundreds of times a minute. Check your logs and if that's the case you can install a plugin called Prevent XMLRPC. This is just an example of what could be going on...but I'm guessing it's something to do with your sites and not your hosting since they are not getting many human visitors.
BTW I hosted a few sites with IX years ago 2007-09 and things went down hill with downtime for me so I packed up and left. When you figure out what's causing the problems with your WP sites and you are up for the move you will be happier with a better host. The hosts mentioned so far in this thread: Veerotech, Mddhost, Arxive, Site5 and StableHost are better options. I'd also recommend A2 Hosting and InMotion Hosting/WebHostingHub (same company) Best of luck to you!

        ^Good advice here.

Had good experience with Site5 and StableHost as well as MDDHost. Haven't tried Veerotech though heard a lot of good things about it.

Also Hostgator and Bluehost are the same company EIG with a reputation for declining service quality of previously good hosting companies. Another thing to consider is looking for a simple VPS if you grown out of your shared hosting although as micksss mentioned you should check your sites first.

+ Adding to the information above, MDDHosting has some of the fastest servers we've experienced (VPS) though typically a little more pricey.

Of all the recommended hosts, I look for most important is a 24 hour phone support.

If I'm having problem with my site, I want to instantly get a hold of a support rep and speak with them directly instead of submitting a ticket and waiting anxiously nervously pulling my hair out can't concentrate until the issue is resolve.

I find it alarming how you can consider yourself a decent hosting company if you don't even provide phone support in the first place.

    Not HostGator.

My sites been down twice in the past week. Currently it's down because of using too much resources and putting strain on their servers - all I did was install a new plugin that doesn't seem to be too resource heavy.

Trying to get it fixed now but they are slow to respond IMO.

I've been using HostGator for many years and have so far not had much trouble their support can't fix. But like Stuart, I've run into the same problems with HostGator claiming my site straining their servers and they had to temporary suspend it. Most of the time it appears to be a plugin causing the high load, but could also have been broken parts of the wp theme that kept recalling the same image over and over. I think you will probably run into the same problem with the hosting regardless of who you use, unless you go with a higher end package or a dedicated server.

I'll never understand why so many people 'penny-pinch' when it comes to choosing a hosting provider.

Hosting is the backbone of your whole business.

If you have a 'cheap' hosting provider who just doesn't have the server resources to cope with the issues you have experienced, it's time to get a reputable host that can..

Here is the sad truth on word press. The PHP code hogs system resources. OK as soon as you have traffic the web host will ban you. Like they will complain about CPU usage... Personally, I use plain HTML now. It is not just word press. Basically, PHP is a pig. Don't blame the plug ins. Junk your PHP code right now. Getting kicked out is no fun and that will happen over and over again. I still have some small word press sites that get very little traffic, but most of my resource intensive sites were replace by new sites that are lean and mean.

Hostgator was bought out? Didn't know that. That answers a lot of questions. I've used hostgator for 7 years and always enjoyed their support. I've gone to bat for them in their defense several times over the years on this forum and cooling off hot tempers related to their hosting.

Yesterday, after all this time, my reseller account finally got hacked and all my sites in the account were killed by the hacker. After 16 hours (probably more) HG finally restored all the sites for which they had backups for.

I had about 25 sites in there but only really three key sites since getting my own dedicated server a few years ago, but they were/are "key" sites. Here we are 28 hours later, and one of those sites is live, but something between the SSL and checkout page on the shopping cart is goofed up, another site has all the files in ftp but for some reason the site isn't displaying, and the third site was not in the backup at all. Just gone.

And, here I sit a full 16 MORE hours later after their reply that they had restored the sites without those three issues even replied to.

It appears that the "down hill" track that hostgator is on is really going more of the direction of being in violation of false advertising laws when they claim to have 24/7 support and really don't.

If you're on HG, get out as fast as you can. That's my new "going to bat" response to anyone.

Honestly, I don't have any experience with Hostgator and Bluehost, but as you mentioned if you compare the reviews of best web hosting services, Hostgator and Bluehost (and I say Godaddy) are the most recommended web hosts by customers and web experts. According to my personal experience, Godaddy can be one your options. They offer cheap web hosting, email hosting and domain registration services and let users pay month to month their billing. You can start with a monthly account and if you are happy with their services shift to their yearly accounts.

They're the same company. Same host. Just different names.

The OP asked this question back in April, sure he solved the problem back than. Some one re-opened it today. What happen to the Mods around here?

Go with Hostgator if you want your pages, posts and images to be randomly lost anytime. It's what happened to me, and then I got support a few days later. Bluehost owned by the same owners. I have been a hostgator and bluehost customer for years and gave up on both after poor service.

    I say go with Dreamhost.
