What value and benefits will Freelancer add to the WF?

Hey Warriors. I've heard positive things about Allen's recent announcement about the WF joining Freelancer.com. Sometimes change is a good thing as it opens up opportunities for all.

What value and benefits do you think this move will have for us all?

Well, there is a synergistic fit in terms of freelance labor offerings. If anything, WF complements Freelancer because WF is also a robust and active sales platform for ebooks, information products, and site tools.

Freelance has alot of money and resources backing the WF. It's hard to say how we will benefit without knowing any future changes, but freelancer understands how the IM industry works, so that is a plus.

When they start rolling out new features, we will know if it benefits us IMer's or not.

Great point Alex. This is where my Economics knowledge comes in handy.

This is an example of 'Horizontal' integration. A 'vertical' integration would have proved a nightmare e.g Walmart joining the WF, as they don't specialize in IM. I can only see a positive outcome from this merger.

I hope they implement a very robust affiliate program that can blow Clickbank out of the water in terms of product diversity and reach. I know, I know... it sounds like a tall order but Freelancer.com has the talent base to pull off the technology.

As a professional software developer, I'd say that the team here are making a wise decision bringing in a larger partner.

Websites are getting bigger and way more complex to build and maintain these days. So by partnering up, the WF gets economies of scale.

On the downside, the bigger web means there's less room for us little guys.

The WF's glory days are gone - BUT if they can bring new ideas to the table then it could have a new lease of life.

I hope the team get inspired by some of the other sites out there. For example, I've been blown away at how Fiverr have developed their original business model (a service for $5). Their site is freaking awesome.

I am not too sure but the first benefit is that they are now allowing members to post a WSO for only $20 instead of the original $40.

I think one of the first things they're going to do is focus on improving how WSOs work. Just the fact that their first act is to lower the price on them shows that this is where their immediate focus will be.
