I recommend you set an affiliate program for your them, then contact bloggers to review your theme. Give them free copies or pay them. That will get you quick targeted traffic and backlinks to your theme page

You could sell it as a WSO or even open an account at theme Forest and sell it there. A nice well thought through and well tested theme is a thing of beauty - good luck. Exciting times.

ThemeForest is OK as long as you think of it like Fiverr - the payments will be lower (commission) but the audience is huge.

wso is not a bad choice.

There are a lot of theme products out there on the market, that does not mean you cant develop a great theme and sell it, but to be honest an email blast, (will Probably not produce much in the way of sales) I have purchased hundreds of themes over the years, one of the real challenges in theme production is the consumer UI.

(the front end of the theme where your customers interact with the management of the theme)

They show you a snazzy slick looking theme and when you install it, Wow, its a big shamble of a mess, you literally have to spend hours getting it the way you want it.

(one WSO seller recently re-launched a product that requires an XML file to benefit from the theme)

So you buy the theme, find out its one big giant mess to configure, (unless you pay the OTO fee and get the XML file to make the theme behave the way they show it in the WSO.

Terrible business model.

If you want to create a theme that really sells, create a simple to use UI, start with a great looking website, make it easy to customize.

Then the world will knock on your door and you will not have to find marginal methods of promotion.

I agree with Tim. This is an opportunity for you to be awesome. Don't blow it and make sure you test everything in IE8! Provide a nice theme with excellent support, make sure it looks like it should when we install it.

thanks for all of your feedback. Actualy I already author at Themeforest for a year and I already become an Elite Author with in those year. I want to make an experiment to improve my theme sales, without depend on Themeforest marketplace. I heard about subscribers list that able to boost sales, but I wonder how to get those subscribers list or maybe someone here got some better ideas

Themeforest is the way to go here they have good ideas on hot to promote themes so go check it out.

1. Set up a signature link here at the W.F. and post your advice at threads where
you see people asking about Wordpress related topics.

2. Get them onto an email list.

3. Build relationships, offer advice, link to your Theme as you teach them
thongs about what you do.

4. You could even look at teaching others how to create their own themes
and make money off the back of that training.

5. You could launch your theme as a standalone WSO of course too.

6. Offer your services for hire in the "Warriors For Hire" section and see
if there are people who could hire you to create a theme custom made for them.

Why don't you submit your themes to freemium download Marketplace? That is a large market for you to promote your WordPress Themes

Sponsored themes on the link footer or buy signature links on webmaster forums.

I recommend WSO aswell.

You can also sell your theme copies to Warriorforum and also in Digitalpoint forum as well. However you can also use third party sites like Themeforest, Hotscripts etc.

Theme forest is better at all. you may try on it. it is trusted and best selling place. But you must need to create theme obeying there site rules. Otherwish they will not accept your projects.

Best way you can promote, target website owner through emailing, who are very interested to change their website theme. Offer your theme free to them, and if they like the product you'll have great advantage to sale the theme in the marketplace nicely.
