The New People Coming Into IM

I might be seeing things, but here is something I've started to see about the new people coming into IM, and I think it's a huge oppotunity for some people.

Right now IM is dominted by sort of "young dude's" - and a lot of the marketing is geared towards them, in fact most of it is. However, I'm starting to see a ton of the people I also see in my stock market products coming into the IM world. These are people in their 50/60's who have some money, are conservative for the most part and are put off by a lot of what they see in IM...but the idea of working from home is very appealing to them. They are closing in on retirement, they have probably lost a lot of money in the market over the last few years, and they are scared. Really about the same as the "typical" 19-25 year old IMer type guy that is the stereotype of this industry. Just wonder if others are seeing the same thing and if you are capitalizing on it yet? and how?

You mean people with expendable income and no discipline? Yeah, a lot of people concentrate their efforts there.

I've got a product in development right now that is focused on the idea of using the same concepts from offline business in online business - and the target market is very definitely those who have been successful in line management or middle management, maybe even in executive positions, and now want to move into their own online business.

In other words, people like me, who think those young whippersnappers are frequently "cheating" or just plain don't get it. People who want to build a solid, long-term strategy instead of just "make money fast". People who have given the best years of their life to an employer who ultimately couldn't "use" us anymore.

I am a big suck at the traffic generation part of the puzzle, though, so even when it's ready to launch I will probably sit on it until I have that piece settled.
