The Biggest Trap In Online Business

Hey warriors,

I'm sure we've fallen into this before.

I'm talking about Information Overload.

With all the information that you may be required to learn it can be quite an overwhelming task to the average person looking to start their online business.

But I'm sure that even the 6 figure+ earners don't know everything there is to know about this business

I've used a few strategies myself to try dealing with this but I'm more interested in the ones that some of you who are just killing it or even just starting out are using to combat with this 'issue'.

Your thoughts and ideas will be much appreciated.

Many thanks to you

    Hi TJoseph,

I was the same as you.

Reading everything I could about marketing and affiliate marketing and never doing anything about it. Thinking... I can't do all this!

Well, the best thing to do is pick one, yes one, thing you can start implementing and dive right in! Whatever you do it's not going to be perfect. Throw up a website and tweak it as you go.

Dan Kennedy says, "Getting it done trumps getting it perfect."

The problem is, information overload is just an excuse to not get things done. I know because I was there.

So, pick one thing to implement and, as Nike would say, "Just Do It!"

    Rock on!

Yea, information overload was absolutely crippling when I first started.

I simply broke through it by paying a good chunk of money to get coaching.

From then on, I simply 'forgot' everything I thought I knew...

And took the leap of faith with all of the new info being 'brought to the table'

    Work out very well

When I felt like it was too much, I just took all the information I had been given, started again from the beginning, and implemented each one.

I made sure I fully understood the first thing first, then moved on from there.

    Put up a buy button.

Learn from the experience and then put up one more.

Learn from that experience and then put up one more.

Learn from that experience and then put up one more.

Learn from that experience and then put up one more.

Learn from that experience and then put up one more.

Learn from that experience and then put up one more.

Learn from that experience and then put up one more.

Learn from that experience and then put up one more.

In other words, just freakin' DO IT. And begin your journey!

Haha I can't agree more with this. It reached a point where I was tired with just knowing too much and implementing too little of it.

    I'll admit...

There is so much data out there these days that it's NEVER BEEN EASIER to get so distracted.

I mean I could rant and rave for HOURS talking about the different avenues of distraction. (I'll spare us both the time haha).

    You want the truth?

    It's what Barb just said.

    Take action.

But, make sure you have a clear destination in mind!

Because remember what the ancient sailors of old know - if you don't know your destination... Then no windfall is favorable.

For free methods, it will be article marketing, blogging, classified advertising, directory submissions, PDF submissions and Youtube videos.

For paid ones, it will be Facebook and solo ads.

information overload and analysis paralysis are a common problem with internet marketing. The only way to avoid them is to just do something. Learn from the results and continue doing something until you reach the goals you've set for yourself.

Info overload is certainly one of the biggest challenges one faces. Fact is, with a lot of really superb products out there amongst a bunch of 'shiny' buttons, it's tempting to give up on one before seeing it through.

People need to realize any system worth its salt is going to take a bit of time (or a lot) to get up and running successfully. And so many times, part way in to the work, an email pops up promising a faster solution.

The answer? 100% dedication to ONE SYSTEM OR PRODUCT at a time, when starting out. One must promise to oneself not to get distracted and to actually see a system through, putting all efforts into that system alone, until results are seen. Easier said than done, but it's the only legit way to get it done.

Meditation helps me overcome this trap. I'm subscribed to zero lists and check a few blogs daily. Other than that, I experiment and tweak, learning bits and using the knowledge quickly instead of trying to pack in more info.

Information overload is the monster that we all have encountered, especially those who have been at this for a while.

You can jump from program to program, project to project, but my advice is to get a mentor.

Follow the advice of someone who has been where you are and is where you want to go. If you don't have any guidance, shiny object syndrome will only hinder your efforts.

Look around for a mentor (not a guru). One will truly help you, while one will tap you dry. Do your homework and remember there is no magic bullet.

    Best of luck to you.

    To your success. . .

No one person can know EVERYTHING. There's always something new to learn. Every information is good information because it wither makes you wiser or makes you a better chooser.

Yes, too much info can make you lose time and money, but you don't win some unless you lose some! So, I guess info overload plays a crucial part in shaping character.

Mark Joyners "Simpleology" and "The Action Machine" really helps to keep me on target... Once I create my list of things to accomplish for the day and prioritize it... I shift from being the boss to being an employee who just received his days assignments from the boss... and then use the above tools to keep on track and stay focused.

It really helps to de-clutter and organize your home and work environment...

Walk into most rich peoples homes and you will find it to be clean and organized plus lots of books...

Look around you... is your environment in need of being organized and de cluttered? If so... give yourself a kick in the pants, focus and get it done... one little corner a day. If you can't even focus long enough to do that for a few minutes each day... more information will just keep you from doing what needs to be done.

Remember, Your Future Is Created By What You Do Today... Not Tomorrow.

      Cheers,

Never really had a problem with "information overload"

Then again, I decided to enter an IM related field on something I liked AND was good at, as opposed to scrambling for the new "hot" craze that would undoubtedly make me a multimillionaire if I just buy this $7 WSO...

    Right.

You avoid information overload by concentrating on ONE or two main areas, getting good at making money from that, and then expanding what you're doing.

  • I also suffered from information overload in the beginning. There's a lot of great information and resources out there and most of them, when done right, can help you make money or build a business. But after doing this for a few years I've become more selective with the information I want to acquire and have started focusing more on WSO and resources that best compliment what I already do and what I know works.

I can't do everything anyway. I figured it's best to focus my time and resources on things I can work on; things that I'm pretty sure would work and do something for my business.

I just bought over $600 worth of Udemy courses in the past 45 days. They went me an offer for $19 for some of the courses. Then they sent me $10 45 days later for other courses.

    Dang, no time.

It's easy to bust through info overload = take action.

Being afraid to make mistakes is the main reason why people don't take action. I make a million mistake but who cares I move on next! If you never take action you will never get results.
