Do You Read Your Email Spam Folder ?

I always receive newsletters sent from aweber/getresponse in my spam folder and I'm affraid that my own newsletter go to this folder too and my subscribers miss it.

How to deal with this ? Should i tell the subscribers to check their spam folder and make an exception on their email filter ? I hate to do this and i'm affraid my subscribers hate this too.

Sorry for my bad English grammar.

Thanks,
Jack Lee

On the opt-in verification email I always tell them to be sure to add my email to their address book. My subscribers wouldn't necessarily understand the term, "whitelist" so I always spell it out for them.

And yes, I do read my spam filter. About once a week I arrange it so I view it by name, (much easier than date) and just do a once-over to clean it out. Some things that I do want DO get sent to spam, so it's always nice to just check it out once in awhile.

Ask them to make sure that if your confirmation email goes into the spam folder to white list you. Make it clear they will benefit from following emails and I am sure you will be getting your emails out to alot more people.

To your question, yes I always check through my spam folder before deleting them, daily.

    Hi,

I never find anything in my spam folder that isn't spam. I don't know how Gmail does it but it "knows." Now the back peddle. out of thousands of emails 99.99% get to my inbox. When I take the time to search the thousands of spams I can count the "mistakes" on one hand.

I've seriously considered "rewarding" people when I build a list if they will open a gmail account.

The best bet is when they are redirected to the "thank you for subscribing" page, put some instructions on there telling them that they are going to receive a confirmation page. If they don't see it then they need to check their spam folder and then whitelist you.

I check my spam folder - as everyone should (at least glaze it over - then delete it). Another option for you is go to some of the popular SPAM checkers online to get your messages "rated." Messages rated high are usually caught in SPAM folders while those rated low are not...

    check it out -

I check my spam folder almost every time I check my mail, quickly move what's not spam to the inbox, then delete the rest.

I get somewhere around 300 mails in my spam folder each day. Most of them are of course spam, but you can't be sure. From time to time a mail from someone I trust, but haven't spesifically whitelisted, ends up in the spam folder for some reason.

The spam folder, to me, is also rather interesting as a hypo-/bullshito-meter. Some of the very well known marketers more and more often send mails with a subject line or content that triggers the spam filters.
