Question for Paypal Business account holders

Hi there,
I have a question for Paypal Business account holders..

Under recurring payments, can you select 1 billing cycle for your subscriptions??

If someone could send me a screenshot as well, it would be amazing

I do not want to upgrade to business unless I know this and Paypal helpline keeps me on hold forever

Yes you can, there are 2 drop downs to choose from:

    Billing cycle: 1-30 / Days-Weeks-Months-Years
After how many cycles should billing stop: never / 2-30

You can also offer a trial period (or even 2) but that's optional.

That's basically the options you have for recurring payments in the merchant account

Yes i do have a business account and just checked the options.

It probably just starts at 2 cycles because otherwise it wouldn't be a recurring payment. If you want your customers to be billed just once you can also create a regular payment button.

Thing is, I want to offer them a free trial and then bill them once!

Yeah there doesn't appear to be an option to offer a trial when there is just one payment to be made. There is no trial option in regular buy now buttons and for recurring payments the lowest billing cycle is 2.

It's strange because in Jvzoo it seems your approach is possible to offer a trial and 1 payment and they also use paypal...

Does JV zoo pay directly to our paypal or store the payments with them and release later?

edit: moreover, jv zoo does not give free trial.. has to be 0.01

no that's not possible with PP at present, you can only do a free trial period then 2 payments.

its a pain I agree we come up against that all the time

Robert is correct. I did some tests for you in my affiliate network because chain payments PayPal does not call the recurring payment. But the buyer does grant preapproval for the payments with PayPal.

I thought that since the our software does the rebilling that it just might not do the second rebilling if set to do so. but it did not work.

However, I do believe that I could set the script to approve 2 payments but only bill for one would work, but the customer would see that you are telling PayPal they would be billed 2 times instead of 1 time.

So it would not be ethical to do it this way.

              Best regards,
              Steve Yakim

You can use subscribe buttons to obtain subscription payments automatically from buyers for access to online services. You can make one payment per billing cycle and each billing cycle has 2 components:
    1. The billing period specifies the unit to calculate the billing cycle such as days or months.
    2. The billing frequency specifies the number of billing periods.
For example, if the billing period is Month and the billing frequency is 2, the billing cycle is 2 months. If the billing period is Week and the billing frequency is 6, than PayPal schedules the payments every 6 weeks.
