does linking to high authority pages help my seo?

At the end of an article, should i link to the references i used? Does this in anyway help my SER? Is more better?

    Linking to website like 'wikipedia.org' and 'cnn.com' are very helpful in sharing link juice to your article. This helps in building authority to your website and also helps to rank your keywords higher in search engines.

    You should definitely link to your sources, especially if they're trusted authority sites. If it helps with your rankings? No one can say for sure. It's just one variable among a thousand, but at least it won't hurt you and your sources probably deserve the credit.
