Banner Ads or Text Ads ?

Just a quick question for everyone...

Which gets you more clicks and / or sales : Banner ads or text link ads on the side bar of your blogs (or blogs you pay to advertise on) ?

Thanks

In my experience, in-content text ads seem to convert the best. I'm an Amazon affiliate, so when I write a blog post about product x, I'll insert an affiliate link into the post.

Banner ads do okay. But they're so common people seem to ignore them, or not even see them if they have an ad blocker on their browser.

    Hope this helps!

Always Text ads in the articles/contant. When I check my ad clicks, it's always text ads. But still I'd like to keep banners on top of the pages and sidebars. Old habit!

According to me, text adds goes better than that of banner. Sometimes, image adds covers more. Can anyone tell me how to design a animated gif banner?

Banner ads will get you more sales, if you want to earn for clicks with Adsense then text ads might be better. It depends on the creative you use, but if you're selling, banner ads will definately give better results.

Text ads have always worked best for me, but so much depends on the style of your site or blog, niche and audience.
Go with a variety and test along the way - then tweak with a greater emphasis on the type of ad that's getting best results. But I'd still suggest keeping some variety.

My suggestion is to try them both out. One thing that I learn and want to share here is that you need to continuously test your ads and banners. Put them in a rotator. Watch the result like a hawk. Then pull out the one that doesn't perform. Now, try to beat the one that does perform. This is a continuous process. Once you have an established standard operating procedure, show someone to do it.

Do both, but i get alot of clicks from discreet text links. 2 images on my blog do pretty well. That's not where most of my traffic clicks on though.

The answer to this question will vary depending on the product, placement, page topic and audience just to name a few examples. Assuming that both ads are of good quality, properly targets the audiences desires and are placed strategically, they will both do equally well.
